With the requirement for BIG teams to play 9 conference games and ISU on the rise, 6 wins might be the top end moving forward if things do not change. Removing a cream puff from KF's diet and adding another BIG match up is going to cause WL problems. I wonder what his WL percentage in conference is compared to out of conference?

I don't think the change that started last year (where Iowa was 6-3 in conference) will materially change Iowa's overall record. I say this because it is not the "cream puff" that is removed from the schedule; it is the second power 5 school that is dropped. Basically Iowa is replacing a second power 5 with another Big Ten opponent.

As for the numbers, he is .659 out of conference and .559 in conference. If you remove the 1999-2000 seasons, he is .705 out of conference and .603 in conference.

Iowa had 5 home B1G games this year and 4 on the road. Home record 3-2, away 0-3, have to assume another loss so 0-4 based upon results to date. Gotta win all at home and steal one or two on the road in the B1G.

2018 will be opposite with 4 at home and 5 on the road. I'd like to see a ten game league schedule to beef up the strength and to see KF start to be forced to adapt his offense to win games.

Fire Kirk Ferentz!!!

I’ve never understood how KF gets a pass for 1999 and 2000. I know what Iowa fan says, it just doesn’t make common sense. You coach up the players you have on the team. Riley certainly does not get a pass for his first two years and you never hear Nebraska fans claiming the losses to Iowa are bogus due to MR not having “his players”. It’s a dumb argument, even for a home board.

Different eras and circumstances regarding the programs...........

Bill Snyder's first 3 years:
1-10 (North Texas State)
5-6 (Western Illinois, New Mexico State, New Mexico, Oklahoma State, Iowa State)

7-4 (no bowl)

Barry Alvarez's first 3 years:
1-10 (Ball State)
5-6 (Western Illinois, Iowa State, Eastern Michigan, Minnesota, Northwestern)
5-6 (Bowling Green, Northern Illinois, Ohio State, Purdue, Minnesota)

Kirk Ferentz:
1-10 (Northern Illinois)
3-9 (Michigan State, Penn State, Northwestern)
7-5 (Alamo Bowl win)

8-5/7-6 forever. Lifetime extension!

I know people don't like that record, but if we went 8-5 or 7-6 every year Id take it. Its a hell of a lot better than 2-10, 3-9 or 4-8. I mean at least were bowling every year and every once in a while we will catch lighting in a bottle and maybe sneak out a 9-4 or even a 10-3 year.

If your satisfied with that fine, but why should Iowa pay top 10 money for that?

We are paying because we have had a coach for 19years and runs a clean program. Oh he also took Iowa to 3 BCS games and won an Orange Bowl back in 2010. Hell 2 years ago we were 12-0 and in the Rose Bowl. That's what were paying for.

Will we make it back there again, I bet we will before KF retires. You are seeing a team this year plagued by injuries and who has lost 4 out of their 5 games by single digits. Were not getting beat 45-3 or 35-7. We have been in every game and outside of Purdue were competitive late in the game.

I'm just gonna warn you, look at Tenn, Nebbie, and other programs who ran off coaches. They are battling for .500 records the last 4-5 years and are struggling. Grass is not always greener on the other side.

Until KF starts losing games 45-3 or 56-0, I'll be okay with him as our head coach. Already getting season tickets for next year! GO HAWKS

Dear Tony the Tiger-
It might be, and then again it might not be. Your act is old. Welcome to my purge...I know you don't care, but the board is much more enjoyable when dribble like yours is removed from the feed. Hopefully you can someday enjoy the game for what it is....a game.

Happy Thanks giving

So 38-14 loss to Wisconsin is ok, with the only points being scored by the defense? 66 yards of offense is ok? A team that appears to have given up is ok? An offense that can't outscore it's own defense over the last two games is ok?

Cool, I no longer recognize the Callahan era, 2013 and the MR era. Therefore, Nebraska’s record against Iowa since 1999 in my mind is now 5-0. See how dumb that is?

JFC were not Alabama. Teams have off days. Look at OSU vs Iowa a couple of weeks ago. Were OSU fans calling for Urbans head? They had an off day and Iowa played out of their minds.

Iowa played a bad game vs Wisky. It happens in sports.

Its college sports these are 18-23 yr old kids were talking about. So the 450+yds vs OSU should just be forgotten then?

Depends upon the definition of OK. In sports sometimes you get your a$$ kicked, and other times you kick it. No one like getting it kicked, most of all those who actually can do something about it.

It's clearly not a stellar year, but not unlike any other in the history of college football...where some can place in the proper perspective, where others nash their teeth, and a select few actually have the privilege to roll up their sleeves and try again.

For thr umptenthbillion time. You don't have to be named Ferentz to run a clean program. Did Bob stoops run a dirty program?

Don't forget 2 BCS game appearances and two years ago was in the BTTG and the Rose Bowl (New years day 6 bowl).

So you're one of those fans who settle for average.

IOWA will stay flat until they schedule tougher opponents out-of-conference. Recruiting is much easier when kids KNOW they will be on the big stage. They want to be on TV nationally....this is their show. They don't give a shit what uniforms they wear, they just want to be on TV.

IOWA is not a branded football program. Building a brand means challenging the best and recruiting the best.

So you're one of those fans who settle for average.

Is that better than below average??

Was this team this year supposed to contend for a Big Ten Title? All the experts I saw were predicting a 6-6 year. This team is right on schedule in terms of expectations. There were way too many unknowns and if you factor in Injuries Id say this team has exceeded expectations.

So, did Iowa play a good game against Purdue or was that 2 off games in a row ?

They were winning 9-7 at half. The 3rd quarter the defense gave up 2 quick scores which is not normal. The defense had a bad game last week.

So 2 bad games in a row means coach needs to go. Okay damn good luck ever getting a coach in here to be successful.
