ISU Sports Information Office has confirmed that ISU QB Jacob Park didn't make the trip to Oklahoma with the team. No other details as to whether it was disciplinary or an injury. I'm guessing the former.

I wouldn't be surprised if the next headline out of Ames on Sunday is "Park is no longer with the team."

Campbell said there wasn't an issue, even with the things that went on in the Texas game. If it was an off campus/legal issue the press would have heard about it by now. Breaking team rules? Must be a big one if you leave your starting QB at home when going against one of the best teams out there. Maybe he just said I am done with it and quit?

Great entertainment on CF. Quite the pissing match between the mods and a few posters. 31 pages of misery.

ISU football... just when you think it can't get any worse... it does.

Thanks. Took a look at it. They are all over the place. 2nd failed drug test is the latest.

The only thing on their website is this:

"Time-change to 12:00pm EDT | IOS-QB-Jacob Park-OUT | TV: FOX"

Unless I am missing something.

Didn't the basketball team have a guy that wouldn't fly? Royce maybe?

"NORMAN, Okla. — Iowa State starting quarterback Jacob Park has taken a personal leave from the team and his return is unknown, the Register has learned.

Park is still on the team, Iowa State officials confirmed to the Register, but will not play Saturday — and potentially beyond — as he deals with unspecified medical issues.

“Jacob is a great young man dealing with some personal medical concerns,” Iowa State coach Matt Campbell said in a statement first obtained by the Register on Friday. “We are committed to helping him cope, supporting him on all levels and helping him prepare to get back on the playing field with his teammates as soon as possible.”"

Failing a drug test is usually "violation of team rules." I suppose it's possible that the "personal medical issue" is drug-related, but it could be a whole lot of things. He and his girlfriend have an infant; hell, it might have something to do with that.

As somebody said, that means ISU probably won't win at Norman tomorrow.

They weren’t winning if he played. Hopefully nothing serious with him or family, don’t wish that on anyone.

I looked at the thread to see if there was anything resembling a credible rumor. They seem to be taking it as well as they can, some pretty funny comments actually.

My favorite post: "I just want to live long enough to see us beat Oklahoma once. Is that too much to ask?" Answer: "How long do you plan to live?" (I will give Clone fans crap if they spend a lot of time here, but mostly they're alright.)

As for Park, mostly speculation but it does sound a little like a behavioral health type thing the way it's been presented. Who knows, sometimes healthy young men can get a very serious diagnosis, too. Hope he's OK.

Drug problem
You think? It doesn't take a genius to tell this kid is not all there. He should of been benched against Texas after blowing up on the HC. To have integrity throughout the roster it should of been done. Dumpster fire that will only get worse.

He already failed at least one test. Funny how now after that disaster against Texas and fighting with Campbell and teammates on national TV he is out. According to high level people he should have been suspended long ago. But Campbell begged to keep him for their Super Bowl and Texas on national TV. Fail on all levels.

Hmmm, interesting. My initial guess would be an issue with his child but who really knows. The Texas semi-meltdown now also tends to point to "figures" though.

I heard Park being talked on the Rusillo show on ESPN radio, somewhat later in the show. It had zero to do with this exact subject, it was about his hair style and the fact that he shaved off the front of his hair and not the sides or back, etc - and that he had the hair to be able to do this and not do it because of male pattern baldness.

Now, initially two things came to mind. One, to hear about Park on afternoon national talk radio when they were not discussing their upcoming game I thought was "had to reach deep for that" and never gave it a second thought...until now. Two...curious if they had gotten wind of this not getting on the plane and somehow steered the discussion to talk about him, but not directly why.

Strange...

I must say I was shocked when I saw him snap on Campbell definitely underlying issues here.Wish the young man well

I realize they weren't going to win regardless of who plays QB....I was attempting some black humor, which apparently didn't work.

No offense, but you are freaking nuts.

I am nuts? Sorrry LC u don't take a "voluntary" leave after just your first offense buddy. They had only 2 games that mattered and lost them both. So just a coincidence that he is gone before an unwinnable game after losing the Super Bowl and embarrassed at home against Texas?! And he completely embarrassed the whole program and university this year from his monster dip during an interview, to his appearance arriving at the game last week, to fighting with his coach and teammates on the sideline. I think Campbell is a good coach and did the smart thing. Look, if now (after the Super Bowl and Texas games) you are going to have 4-5 wins, better to have 3-4 wins and look respectful doing it.

Drug problem and/or mental health problem. Not surprising when you have to live in Ames and be a Cyclone. I think both of those things may be criteria in the APA's diagnostic manual.
