King suspended for first half.

If its a quarter or half it will be fine. Iowa will have someone else to step in. The LB and Safties will cover for it.

Unfortunately, I don't think this is necessarily the case. Losing King changes our defensive approach. Covering for his absence will detract from other parts of the D. It will almost inevitably make the D less effective. The question is whether we can sustain enough drives on O to keep the ball away from them and can the D step up and make plays in King's absence.

Hopefully this is a bunch of baloney. If it's true, I'll be awfully disappointed in King for letting down his teammates when we could least afford something like this. The one possible silver lining is that sometimes guys raise their game when they know they have to make up for the absence of a key player.

Fleming got lit up against Illinois State. Hope this 1 quarter suspension doesn't result in a game deciding score.

Violation of team rules at Iowa gets you suspended for a quarter.

Investigation for rape at Nebraska gets you..........................................

LOL. Love Iowa taking the high road for a small infraction and still kicking Nebraskas ass while they play with potential felons. Just can't write this script any better.

Nebraska,, 5-7 and accepting a Detroit Bowl against Toledo. LOL

Nebraska only completes about 11 passes to WRs per game (about 125 through 11 games). We'll be fine for one quarter.

This sounds like it may be a Leadership Council type of situations vs. Coach decision. Canzeri, Beathard, and several others have preached the team over individual philosophy constantly. Doodle wonders if this maybe was an extension of that.

Whatever the case, if it's true....next man in.

Plus the drive.......is there a more boring drive in all of the world? Nebraskans are truly lost in the 1990's.
You do realize that 80% of the drive is in the State of Iowa, right?

Besides... all, but 20 miles or so, of the Nebraska portion of the trip are in pretty much urban/residential.

You guys are really reaching.

If it is a leadership council thing....fine. But if it is Kirk punishing King for something that could have been punished another way, then this becomes a team punishment and could end up costing the Hawks a win.

Let's all be completely honest here, King hasn't exactly been playing elite football for the last 2 weeks. I think we can stand to lose him for a whopping 15 minutes of play. The guy gets beaten just as much as anyone on the team, he's just far more likely to make up for it with a pick later on.

The place where he might impact the game the most is on special teams. He's top 3 in the B1G in both punt and kick returns, I think.

I mean he did drop three interceptions last week, maybe his replacement will catch those. Or maybe he won't be in position to make an interception at all, which is more likely.

He dropped 2 (one was tipped right to him, the other he made a typically excellent play on the ball), and was absolutely worked over on just about every other snap. Guy was burnt like a piece of toast throughout the game.

I love him to death, and he might be my favorite player on the team, but let's be real here. We can survive his absence for 15 minutes. We play extremely soft coverage with him most of the time, anyway.

Be honest, you'll be really upset when he doesn't fumble and you can't say, "I told you so," won't you?

Feels like so many fans want us to lose this game. It's disgusting.

It's more nerves than anything. The ultra-Husker haters are scared to death that they might be the ones to ruin the season. If it was any other team, the mood/atmosphere around here would be much different.

We'll just fair catch it anyway.

If they put McCarron back there, just head to the kitchen to refill the chip bowl before the ball is even snapped.

Mark it down Nebbie will try at least 1-2 fake punts today. They have nothing to lose, they are going to be pulling out all the stops. If Im Iowa I don't put anyone deep. Just let the ball bounce.

Kakert just twated that DK is on the field fielding punts & kos, business as usual.

Fwiw, morehouse pulled a politician move "rumors has legs" bc he hadnt heard that it wasnt true. Id love to be a journalist, create stories for a living.

I've seen it from multiple sources other than Morehouse, unless they're following his tweet. My guess is that King is following standard pregame warmup because he'll be playing, just 15 minutes after everyone else.

We can afford to play soft coverage with him because he's actually going to hit somebody given the chance, can that be said about our backups?

I started following this last night, it all goes back to Morehouse saying "I haven't heard any no, so theres a chance"

They just ran through injury reports & no mention.
