King

He said he's going to stay, but he's been getting A TON of attention nationally in the last month. I think he's played himself into being a first-round draft pick. I would love to see him back because he brings a swagger and attitude to this program that has been missing in other years. But, I think he's gone after the bowl game.

He initially got attention for his INT numbers, but he played like an elite college cornerback against Aaron Burbridge (who is definitely playing on Sundays) tonight.

He's a ballplayer, but doesn't have the measurables of a first-round corner. If he comes back and Ott gets medical RS, I can't help but think next year could be even better.

If King is properly advised that he would be a first round pick he should go pro now...anything less than that he should come back and make it so in 2016.

I don't think he's a first rounder this year but I don't know how much he stands to gain by coming back another year. I don't see the measurables changing a whole lot. Maybe next year's DB class is weaker but leaving early seems like it is the better choice more often than not. Selfishly, I want him back though.

I don't see him going in the 1st. He doesn't have elite speed and he's under 6 feet. I think he's somewhere in the mid 2nd.

The corners from Florida, FSU and LSU will all go higher.

My Vikings just drafted Trae Waynes, who has all of the measurables of an NFL corner. Has he played like an first-round draft pick? Hell no. Before the draft, Jon Gruden said "Buyer beware of drafting Trae Waynes". I can see why.

Desmond King is a better football player than Trae Waynes. If that guy can get drafted in the first-round, so can Desmond King.

This is pretty accurate. It would be hard to blame him. This team is special, and my hope is that he loves playing with his teammates take a chance to lead them to something even better. But if he stays, I hope he takes out an insurance policy.

I don't get the criticism of Waynes. He's actually played pretty well in the regular season when he's been in. He's sitting behind some good talent too. Rhodes is very good, Newman is currently rated as the 6th best corner per PFF and Captain is a very good slot corner.

Waynes is a bit of a project but he was drafted in the 1st primarily because he has the elite speed King doesn't have.

King will go top 2 rounds, I can't see him getting a better draft position next year. He most likely goes, even though he said he stays.

It'd be a shame if a kid lost an opportunity of a lifetime getting injured his senior year when he could be playing in the NFL.

King seems to be a lock to go in the first two rounds, I think that will be tough to pass up. The only thing we don't know from the outside looking in, is how much weight coming back for a 4th year to try and take this team to the next level will hold? He might love the college experience and want one last chance to take this team to the playoffs. Our team on paper will have a great nucleus coming back and could contend once again.

I don't think coming back for a 4th year will move him up much in draft positioning, the same questions will be there next year as they are this year, that being elite size and speed. I would hate to see him suffer a serious knee injury if he did come back, that would be a heartbreaker. I suppose he could take out insurance for that type of outcome, just hard to know at this point what he will do. I think King declares for the draft and I wouldn't blame him one bit. I think the bowl game will be his last as a Hawkeye unfortunately, but hats off to him for a stellar career at Iowa, as he will go down as one of the best defenders in program history.

The few mocks I've seen have D.King going in the 2nd or 3rd Rounds.

Link to SI has him in the 2nd. Great link with video. http://withthefirstpick.com/2015/11/30/2016-nfl-draft-early-look-at-iowas-desmond-king/

Copy and paste below from CBS Sports

>>King reminds a bit of former Iowa standout - and current Green Bay Packers defensive back - Micah Hyde. Like Hyde, there are some concerns about King's straight-line speed, which could push him to safety in the NFL. While perhaps lacking top notch acceleration, King possesses loose hips to change direction quickly as well as good instincts and ball-skills to make the interceptions when opportunities arise. King certainly possesses the frame, physicality and aggression to handle the switch, ranking as one of the nation's best run-supporting corners. He alertly avoids blocks on his way to the action and is a reliable, forceful open field tackler.<<

King is a great football player. I don't think he has the 40 time that NFL scouts like to see to be a 1st rounder and would end up in the 2nd or 3rd. Regardless of his speed, I think he's going to be a good NFL player because he knows how to use it, has great instincts, is a tough tackler and reads the QB well in zone defense.

Having said that, come back and do something even more special than this year!

it all depends on his forty time and his ability to turn his hips. The good thing is corner in the NFL is a position with a long shelf life if you can play. You don't take a tremendous physical beating at the position so there's no need for King to rush. It will all still be there next year. If he was a running back or a lineman or a backer, it would be a very different scenario I think.
