Kirk Ferentz Q&A

Are there really no adjustments possible when the OL is playing two back-ups? I would think they could game plan for that weakness. Maybe use more spread type plays.
Not from the interior line. You basically put your line out there and ask them to win their matchups. Which they did not do in the run or pass game. Blitz pickups were blown by Daniels. That didn't help.

You don't know what you are talking about then.
Sure. Ok. Whatever you say.
I'll give you that when it comes to the OL. I know how important the calls a Nd the execution is.
That doesn't hold true for why we got dominated on the DL. Those are matchup assignments. And we got dominated.

Again, watch the tape. Guys weren't getting off blocks and were slow to react in the second half. They did pretty well in the first half. Defense gave up 16 points despite spending the majority of the time on the field in the second half do to the offense completely sputtering.
NDSU changed the way they were running things in the second half and the D wasn't making their reads fast enough or making the wrong reads. NDSU was running backfield action with a lot of zone read type stuff with QB to slow down the defense and it worked. Iowa players were slow to react. Guys weren't using fundamentals and making the right decisions. Players said it and the coach said it. Can't help it if people aren't smart enough to pick up on it.

But really the issue is there isn't anything that could be said that would make some people happy. That's fine just don't act like it is because of some conspiracy on behalf of the media or the university.

I get that nothing will make people happy but the media has been gutless at football pressers for decades. The general displeasure in that arena is not new.

WRONG !!! Wadley's last play of game was in middle of third quarter according to Morehouse. Too bad you didn't pay attention to game more.
Iowa didn't play well and Wadley was one of players who didn't play as well as he has.

You're right, it was the second quarter. And, no, it's too bad I paid attention to the game at all. I wish I had never seen it.

"North Dakota dominated your offense and defense at the line of scrimmage. How does that happen?"
That's a question.

"I didn't see it that way. They are a good football team and they beat us. We didn't make enough makeable plays and I'm not sure how you teach that. But, right now we are focused on Rutgers and getting ready for this week."

So now you pissed off the coach asking a loaded question to get the exact same response. Didn't accomplish much did ya? It's amazing how many people think they can play journalist.
