On the way home I was tuning into multiple callers talking about Kings comments about being out coached in the NW game (he isn't wrong). Some speculated he was not happy about not being a team captain, but that's not KF choice is it? His on field production would not show something is going on, but could there be? Or are people just digging for things during this tough time?

He later said outplayed. Digging. I see no Iowa media asking KF the meaning of what he said.

King had better be on the field or there will be a fan mutiny. He's not the reason for our issues and I would start with the head coach before anyone else if you want to point fingers. We've seen this rodeo too many times.

Student athlete. Getting a degree, so stupid of him

I hope this is some sort of joke that I don't get and you aren't serious.

If you are a non athlete college student and somebody offers you a job paying 10 to 20 million dollars if you leave school early and you turn it down because you want to get your degree...you are one incredibly stupid person.

Thought I heard on the radio that ferentz was asked about kings comments and said he was probably right

You think King is going to be a 10-20 million dollar player? & if you do think that, you think this year is going to hurt that? He still has to play the games this year.

Good lord, some of you guys are thick. Of course he has to play the games this year...now that he has committed to do that. We are not saying he should quit the team. We are saying if he were to sustain a serious injury in some completely worthless college game, coming back will prove to have been a tremendous mistake. Fingers crossed it doesn't happen.

It's cool, you want the guy to quit on his team....you said it....

I seriously doubt Kirk admitted that they were "out coached." That was King's initial statement. It's not really Kirk's style to admit fault, which I happen to think is a big knock on him. His blase attitude after a loss is what drives most Iowa fans crazy.

I mean if Kirk comes out in the post NW game and says something like, "I'm not sure what exactly is going on with this team, but I'm going to do my best to fix it." Or "it starts at the top and this is unacceptable." Or "we are gonna shake some things up..." I think we would all breathe a sigh of relief. Our schemes and plays are so vanilla that we have to execute near flawlessly to be competitive. So the question is, what do we true Hawkeye fans do? Settle for mediocrity? Quit watching the team we have grown up cheering for? Call for Kirk's head? Ramble on message boards? We were good last year, but we had a favorable schedule and got some big breaks. We weren't blowing people out. We let most teams hang around and played not to lose. I'm not sure what the solutions are, but I'm tired of seeing the lack of fire and passion we all thought was finally back, and it starts with a coaching staff that looks like they're in a library. I watched Clemson and Louisville last night. Petrino and Dabo were running around, screaming and yelling, following players that had costly penalties to the bench chewing their ass the whole way. Passionate coaches that care about winning. I'd just love to see that at Iowa.

So what I got out of that was northwestern was more emotionally invested in this game..
