Anybody seen any numbers as far as how many Kirkwood students bought tickets this year? I doubt it increased attendance much. A lot of those kids may have been game regulars anyway. And they weren't that cheap - same price as a general public season ticket at Half Price stadium in Ames - before all the giveaways.

Why would a Kirkwood Student be offered the opportunity to buy tickets to UI games differently than anyone else?

Because many are prospective UI students and student ticket sales were down. Helps build the fan base and recruits (students, not athletes) for the UI. Good move by the much maligned AD, in my opinion.

Good move that never happened.

I stand corrected....but I teach at Kirkwood & have never heard a student talk about this. They talk about buying walk up tickets but not student tickets.

Because the UI pissed off enough longtime ticket buyers that they were desperate to get as many people as possible into Kinnick before the season started (and still are, to a large extent).
