Here's how this works..... Looking back over the presidential elections in which you had a preference (whether you actually voted or not), are there any candidates you now wish you hadn't supported or any candidates you now wish you had supported instead? You can answer either way or both.

Because I've voted for a lot of 3rd party candidates, there are none on my list that I wish I hadn't voted for. But if I had to do it over again now, I'd probably vote for Carter in 1980 instead of Anderson. Wouldn't have made any difference, of course, but I think I was too hard on Carter.

1968 -- the first year I was eligible to vote, I didn't. I regret that. I thought Nixon was a less disastrous choice than the Hump -- I really thought we might have a low-grade revolution if the Hump were elected -- but I knew Nixon was going to carry Iowa and I couldn't bring myself to actually go and vote for the s.o.b. The only other race I would have voted in was the Senate, and my candidate -- Hughes -- was going to win easily, so he didn't need my vote. If I had it to do over, I probably would vote for Nixon, just so I didn't have to admit I refused to vote the first time I had a chance.
1972 -- I voted for McGovern. If I had it to do over again, I'd have voted for somebody else. Not Nixon, though. It was a throw-away vote because the election wasn't competitive.
1976 -- I voted for Carter. Definitely would go for Ford if I had a mulligan. Carter was a disaster. I was mostly voting against Ford as a protest for pardoning Nixon, but I also had high hopes for Carter. Got all misty-eyed when he got out of the limo and walked up the street during the inaugural parade.
1980 -- Only time I voted absentee. Was in a hospital bed. Thought Carter was a disaster, but hadn't completed the maturation into a conservative. Mrs. LC, a radical liberal in her earlier years, was much better informed than I, and had done so. She brought me the absentee ballot. I said, "You promise that Reagan won't start a nuclear war?" and she assured me on that score, so I voted for him. Would do so again.
1984 -- Gipper again, no problem.
1988 -- Bush 41 again, no problem.
1992 -- Bush 41 again, no problem.
1996 -- Would probably write in somebody's name. Voted for Dole, and I have great respect for him and his service, but a vote for somebody else might have made me feel better.
2000 -- Bush 43 again, no problem.
2004 -- Bush 43 again, no problem.
2008 -- McCain, because I thought Obama wasn't up to the job, but I held my nose. I think if Romney had been the candidate, he would have won, thanks to the financial meltdown in the months before the election.
2012 -- Romney, no problem. Obama was much, much worse than I had feared.

I thought he'd just be an incompetent liberal. I didn't anticipate the assault on American law and values, or the transformation of the federal government into a partisan attack machine.

Assault on American law... LOL.

What has said partisan attack machine been attacking?

2000 - Biafra
2004 - Nader
2008- Nader
2012 - Stein

Voted for McCain in 08 and don't regret it. Voted for Johnson in 12 and I regret it very little

So in your view he's been a competent liberal? ;)

In retrospect, in the 80's/90's I would have voted for...

Folger's Crystals over the gourmet house blend.

Pepsi over Coke.

Manning over Leaf.

Dan O'Brien over Dave Johnson

PS1,2 over Xbox

I have voted Republican in every national election but have voted Democrat some times on the state and local level. Although I would not change any vote, there were several times I voted holding my nose and voted for whom I considered to be the lessor of two evils or at least Republicans I had no excitement about

So in other words, you're not going to vote, you're just going to nitpick other poster's input. Worthless

1980 - Reagan no problem
1984 - Reagan no problem
1988 - Voted for Dukakis (Bush turned out okay)
1992 - Voted for Bush and would again
1996 - Voted for Perot in hopes that the party would get 20% and federally funded
2000 - Bush no problem
2004 - Bush no Problem
2008 - Voted for Obama because McCain was too old and he chose Palin as his running mate. Like
LC, I held my nose on this one.
2012 - Voted Romney and would again.

Gore, Obama, Obama.

Seeing as how terrible things were under Bush and how great things are under Obama -- I'm pretty happy with how I voted.

Carter........the last time I voted for a Democrat........in any election..............even dog catcher.

Translation: it's much easier to suck from the taxpayer teet under Obama

I'm doing much better for myself under Obama and it's got nothing to do with leeching off my fellow taxpayers. I did, however, accept a couple unemployment checks in 2008 thanks to ole Dubya.

Only the slow think the meltdown had nothing to do with ACORN and oil speculation and is 100% Bushes fault. Which would explain your post.

The economic crisis was not 100% on Bush, but you're the slow one if you don't think he needs to shoulder a large portion of the blame. He spent over a trillion dollars on an unfounded war and put it on a credit card for someone else to deal with.

Now we get it. You lost your gov't job in 2008 and Obama gave it back to you. And you're complaining about wasteful spending? LOL

It was not a government job -- everyone was losing their job post-2008. Obama didn't directly give me my current job, but under his administration, employers gradually regained their faith in the economy and a lot more positions became available. I don't have a grudge against W -- Obama's simply a better President.

Thomas appears to be another sad brainwashing victim of the wingnut echo chamber of hatred and lies, and has contracted a severe case of Obama Derangement Syndrome. Kind of sad, really. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Obama could have looked into the camera during the debates, pulled up a puppy from behind his podium, and shot that puppy in the face while maintaining his stare into the camera and still have won that election going away.

1992 Bush
1996 Dole out of sympathy
2000 Didn't vote. Both guys were losers. Would've voted for McCain if he was the nominee
2004 Kerry protest vote of Bush.
2008 Obama (McCain's VP pick scared me.)
2012 Romney

Wouldn't change any of the votes.
