New to the site. First post. Watching this Oregon game has me thinking about the lack of PT Kasper gets. He has 4 total catches in 3 years on campus. Wonder if he’d entertain the portal and if so would Iowa get a look again?

Go Hawks!

He was injured early this year, redshirting.

I also like Buie and Howard as young receivers

And exactly zero kids who are proven receivers are seriously entertaining Iowa offers.

Zero.
It's hard to blame them. I love Iowa but if my son wanted to be a WR here and was good enough, I'd honestly try to steer him away to a better school that would develop him. I love Iowa but if a career is involved, knowing what I know about KFs limitations/problems with WRs all too well. For defensive positions or as a RB/TE/FB, no worries. But as a WR, I'd avoid this place like a death trap.

I still remember Trashon Holden laughing at us when he learned there was speculation he was considering us. Dude couldn't say no in a worse way honestly. I remember the Charlie Jones issue and screaming at the TV at KF because it was soooooooooooooooo obvious he needed to play. I hoped the kid from OSU would be good but remember thinking, if he's coming here as a WR, how good can he actually be?

Don't blame Kasper one bit.

No idea how seriously Iowa would pursue him if he portaled out, but if he specifically wanted to come to Iowa I think the coaches would be receptive (no pun intended).

I see a lot of people still bagging on the offense, saying we don't throw to WRs, etc. While it's true TEs were targeted seemingly exclusively in the innovative and dynamic BF offense, those days are over. Although the passing game was limited this year, it's proof of how getting your better athletes the ball improves the offense as a whole. I'm looking forward to see what Lester can do with it next season.

The WR room is always going to be a touch sell at Iowa the way we play and the lack of touches WRs get. We will see how that evolves with TL now as I think they are going to work it in more in the coming years. Listening to him talk this summer, he basically all but said the passing game is the hardest to change quickly.

When I see people make comments like this I just have to ask what is it that you like about them? Is it the 10 combined catches for 126 yards over the course if the season? What have you seen that makes you think that either one of them is the answer at wide receiver? I'm not passing judgement on them either. They could be good or they could be FCS bound next year. I just don’t know how anyone would have a clue given the very limited targets and production.

They are both redshirt freshmen. Have good size. Buie has very good speed. They will only get better in Lester's offense.

They both have a lot of potential. It's really not their fault that we haven't had a QB that can throw to them.

Well first of all please note that I said young receivers. One of them is listed as 6' 4" and the other at 6' 2" inches and we havent had much height at WR since Brandon Smith as a good one. Maybe we can start catching some deep sideline balls by outjumping the defenders,

I thought they caught nearly all the balls thrown at them that were catchable. That is a good sign over some receivers we have had lately. Last year Kaleb Brown had terrible hand position many times trying to catch a ball.

I dont know what their speed is but if it is above avg that will be an improvement
