When I did juvenile court, I always wanted to be present for in home visits initially. It put DHS on guard that I was watching

That being said, there are plenty of shitbag parents out there and when I served as Guardian ad Litem, I called a spade when I saw one.

Worst case was a 3 year old that only weighed 23 pounds. Malnutrition while parents had money for smokes, subway etc.
