Iowa made his top 3, any word on this kid? Sorry if it’s posted else where, I have not seen it. 3* out of AL.

Yes most people would lose it if we accepted a commitment from him after we turned down Brock, me included. But.... the upside is he is coming from a 7A, almost 3,000 kid enrollment school in Alabama that won their state championship last year. If we need some projects (3 Stars) to help break down the wall into Alabama I could be happy with that. That the bright side I’m looking at.

Hmmm interesting development. I had been hoping for a 3 running back class for some time. Just thought the names would be different. Might not be a bad pickup. Plus we could open that deep south Alabama pipeline.

I imagine that there could be a few considerations that might be influencing the thinking of the coaches.

Firstly, the departures of Rugamba and Coons are newer developments ... perhaps that was attrition that they (the coaches) didn't foresee. Also, the rumor mill had been suggesting that perhaps something was up concerning Harrell ... a guy who is at RB. If Harrell is lost due to academics (and has to go the JUCO route) ... then that could potentially explicitly open up a RB spot.

Perhaps the prospect of getting our foot in the door of McCammon's school was a dice worth rolling ... even if we don't land him. Also, he's a high quality back that the coaches like too.

Lastly, maybe there is truth to what some of the Cyclone fans have been saying after all. Perhaps the Iowa coaches thought that he had been dragging his feet too much. Given the quality of RBs we were "in play" with .... perhaps Brock was "pressured" to sh*t or get off the pot. However, given that the Hawks have been priding themselves of late for not using high-pressure recruiting techniques .... something still smells a little fishy here.

I thought Cyclone fans were saying Brock was an ISU lean and Iowa backed off to save face.

After watching some film, I think he would be the fastest RB on the team today. Elite speed.

Why does this smell? If the coaching staff tells all three RB that the first one to except the offer, he gets the scholarship and the other two will no longer be recruited.
Maybe Fran should take this approach. Just offering one recruit hasn't been working...

I'd take this kid in a heart beat and not think twice about it.
If the coaches offered they feel pretty good about his work ethic and attitude.
The athletic ability is there already as can be seen on his clips.

Maybe things have changed since the Brock situation, maybe Iowa backed off of Brock for other reasons?? Maybe Harrell and toks are done at Iowa who knows.. let’s just let the Iowa coaches do their thing

Sooo true! For some reason too many people believe they know all of the details about every situation .....they dont! Like you said ....let the coaches do there jobs! If some of the people on here were allowed to make big decisions on how this team was run i could only guess what a disaster we would have!!

For those who don’t have name recognition with the school or just don’t watch terrible television channels, he comes from the school that was the backdrop for an MTV reality show Two A Days which came out around the same time as Varsity Blues and our collective fascination with high school football mega-programs.

I have seen snippets of the show and it is definitely not worth going back and watching it, but the level of competition including recruitment (both at the high school and college levels) is almost unparalleled.

Perennial top ten national program.

Of course this could all be for nothing. It’s just him coming out with a top Three but I would have to imagine he would tell Iowa his interest.

I like we are taking chances with guys who play with and against players whom make up Alabama and Georgia defenses. Could bring another level to our offense. However with McCammon, are we possibly taking a flyer on him? He plays at the powerhouse Hoover so you know every SEC program has seen him play, why only Ole Miss had offered from the SEC. Either way I think the posters whom mentioned BF is looking to go quicker smaller backs is right. Besides Brock a bigger back like Breece hall was also on the board and we seem to not have targeted him as much either.

Not trying to play both sides of the fence here but this guy, in my opinion, is more talented than Brock. No clue if he will end up at IA but I wouldn’t be mad if he did.

Looks like he was offered mid February. Does anyone even know if Iowa would take him anymore?. Ole Miss and Iowa look to be his only power 5 offers. Troy is in his top 3. He might have just wanted to put out a top 3 that had his power 5 offers in it......even if they are no longer on the table. After watching his tape, it seems doubtful that we would have prioritized him over Breece Hall. I also think there had to be something else besides "we filled up" in the Brock situation.

I thought the interview with Goodson’s coach provided a ton of insight on our ability to recruit the south. He said that the SEC schools overlooked Goodson because he did not fit their (SEC) profile. They want backs who are 6’0”+ and 215+. Makes sense when you think about backs who have been difference makers at Alabama, LSU and Georgia. McCammeron could be another very talented back that isn’t highly recruited by SEC because of this.

I don't see what is wrong with WONDERING why brock was dropped. I don't think wondering what happened makes you a "know it all". It is no different than assuming brock is a bad kid/lazy/etc.
You don't really think anything said on here actually changes how the coaches do their jobs....do you?

I always first wondered early why such a highly rated rb wasn't getting the offers to match his ranking. Through articles, interviews, comments, etc, I started being suspicious of Brock being a good fit from a character standpoint, we all know what Kirk wants and don't want. I'm not saying Jirehl's a bad apple or anything, just not as good of fit as others were. If there's a shred of truth to a monetary request from the Brock camp, case closed. At any rate, he ended up at one of the worst football programs in college football history, and his commitable offer list (ISU, Minn, maybe MSU) was no where near as impressive as his ranking and the biggest clue here.

I think Hawk fans are being a little too sensitive the fact ISU is getting 2 rbs ranked higher than ours, especially one being a guy that's been a Hawk lean for months. We ended up not wanting him for good reason...a definite, He Gone!
