Last chance qualifier

I agree. I guess we don't have a ton of young studs in the room but they should definitely be at Fila Juniors(UWW). This is one of my favorite tournaments of the year. Names I hope we see there.
-Paddock
-Kem
-Happel
-Turk
-Halloway
-Wilckie
-Gunther
-Glynn
-Bowman
-Marinelli-I'll never understand why some kids don't wrestle freestyle. It's worked for most of the SPG kids though.

Shouldn't take long for Marinelli because he is best on his feet...just going to have to work on his Par Terre offense and defense. He stated that he was going to be in IC all summer. It would be cool if he boned up on some freestyle and went to Fargo as a starter course. Personally, I'd rather have our guys living in the weight room doing strength and speed exercises. Some also need to the online course: "Don't do Stupid Shit 101"

Most top college guys take a 2-3 year break from freestyle after they are done qualifying for Fila juniors until after they graduate. Makes no sense to me if the goal is to be a world/Olympic champ after college. Someone like Gilman who was a junior world medalist, is losing ground big time to all the international guys. He should be out there

I hear what your saying but I'm talking about current guys or redshirts. Max Thompsen beat Montell Marion and won a few matches. I'm sure Stoll would have been there if healthy(Greco).

Doubt it. He's already qualified for the Trials though he's obviously not wrestling.

Not a reserve, but Jake Diffenbach's (transfer from NAIA power Lindenwood, might have been a low AA if he hadn't destroyed his knee right before the conference tournament) win that night was a big upset. I'm not sure that win was worth Perry finally beating Hendricks in the NCAA finals, though, from a Cowboy perspective.
Thanks for bringing up the Hendricks match --- one of my favorite Hawk wrestling moments! :)

Thanks tom - we know there are lots of great/respectful PSU fans and enjoy interacting with them, but those few bad ones spoil it for all :(

I would agree that a great majority of PSU fans are nice and respectful; unfortunately, 75% of the PSU visitors to this board are not. And they accounted for 90-95% of PSU posts to this board before I put them on ignore. The board is much more enjoyable after putting them on ignore - although threads can be more difficult to follow sometimes.

Nobody really knows what's going on with Marstellar and where he will wrestle, but this is year 3 now, and I still don't see a place for him in that Poke lineup? He can't manage the weight pull to 157, and if Rogers pulls to 65, where does that leave Chance?

I am not supporting a transfer to downgrade what is a powerful Okie St lineup, but really, Chance would be best served heading to a smaller school, like a Lock Haven or an Edinboro, or even a Northern Iowa, than where he's at right now.

The last time Rogers and Marsteller went to a tournament both at 165 Chance took 4th and Rogers didn't place I don't see how anyone can right him off against Rogers when next season hasn't happened yet did everyone forget how much better he looked in his redshirt year when he went back to 165?

It's more about getting him into the game, than anything else. Maybe he wins in the room against Rodgers, maybe he doesn't? Maybe Smith lets him out of the dog house, maybe he doesn't? Too many variables here. Transfer to a smaller school, get in the game and on the mat, qualify for nationals, and take your shot at it. Take the hurdles and hoops out of it.

I think it might be more about a change of scenery for Marst. He was suspended for the second half of the season and I'm sure he's in Smiths dog house. He wrestled unattached this weekend.

Omahahawk, you nailed it.

Agree. He needs a fresh start, and he needs to be at 165 or maybe even 174. I give my proxy vote to Brinzer to recommend where he should go.

Actually no, I haven't been. There have been people who have suggested He is enrolling at Lock Haven, that is not me, that is other sources. What i find hilarious is that he has not really made a national tournament or a starting lineup yet, but so many just want to re affirm that he isn't "going anywhere", and they're not even Cowboy fans.
