I live in Texas and had to have foundation repair this fall before it cooled down. They basically dig holes down to the bed-rock and jack your house back up. This is pretty common in Texas as the soil is bad. Anyhow, one zone of our sprinkler zone doesn't work now and the sprinkler repair man just quoted me $700 to find the severed wire and fix. I told him I would hold off for now. Does that sound a little high?

Does it pool up in your yard?

I'd try to find the line and keep digging along the route until you find it. Once you locate it, call them in to fix it.

The last time I had a cut, it cost me around $100 for the repair.

Water does not run in that section. We will need to get it fixed or we won't have a l lawn in our front.

Seems pricey, .. Assuming you know where the non-functioning valve is, run new wiring on grade and connect to test. If everything looks good bury the wire yourself.

I see, a severed wire.

Maybe try this.

$700?? That sounds a lot high.

Like @NorthernHawkeye posted, a wire locator will do the trick. I hope it’s a 2-wire system that is much easier to repair, as opposed to the older style “bundle of 18-gauge wires” that are quite terrible.
