New Story LB Twedt arrested

What did he say that wasn't a true statement?
Pretty much nothing ... however, you're apparently absolved of your sins if you pander to the religious right. I wish some of these folks would actually adhere to the tenets of their faith. Furthermore, some of these folks are also flag-wavers ... and yet our fine military has fought to protect our democracy ... and yet inciting insurrection apparently doesn't logically undermine our democracy. Some folks don't mind dictatorial tendencies if it echoes many of their confirmation biases.

Get off the board and practice your religion elsewhere.......

Were you born this stupid or is it something you’ve worked at?
Ummm ... name-calling, very mature. That's exactly how to support your view!

Trying to undermine the intelligence of folks who have different views than yourself ... check ... yep, you're following "the playbook."

Of course, with a theoretical physicist like myself ... you cannot play that card ... so you'll have to resort to another tired-trope ... dumping on elitist intellectuals.

Can you really have it both ways ... ?

This is not the place or forum for you, or anyone, to voice political opinions or grievances. There is an Off Topic board for that. We need to keep the football board for football alone. If that is not possible for you, then maybe you need to try a different venue.
I've been on these boards since the early 2000s (my original handle was homerHAWKeye777). This stuff ebbs and flows. Conservative, liberal, etc views spill out on these boards all the time. It's especially prevalent during an election season.

This is not unlike any other form of social-media. To suggest this is not the place would be erroneous. If you track most of my posts ... they're mostly on topic, relating to football/basketball, etc. However, sometimes they're not ...

You'll notice that I'm not being disrespectful in any way. If folks don't like seeing the illogical nature of their views mirrored back to them - then it's sad that they cannot be so thoughtful and reflective. I urge you to not shy from adult discourse.

51 Intelligence officers sign on to the veracity of your claim of insurrection😂. Repeating hoaxes dont make them any more true. Now if you want names of WHO incited violence, lets GO. You want that on the fb board oh moral one?

Putting forth a rebuttal that simply reflects your own oversimplification. We always fear that which we don't understand ... so you better just turn to ridicule and hate ... it's easier that way.
Oh I fully understand the abomination liberals would want the USA to be.

Agreed- I should have used the winky emoji….😉
The whole "camp out by the bar" thing has always been a little sketchy. On one hand it seems a little dirty...on the other you can prevent a lot of drunk driving. Not long ago Kansas City had a controversy over cops setting up check points near Westport. People were choosing other routes and cops were pursuing them.

As for Twedt, it seems you should just let a drunk college kid walk home if he's not causing any trouble. At least he's not driving. Public intox seems like a victimless crime as long as a person isn't acting out or a danger to others.

I think you are being called a moron because you brought politics to a football forum. I'm afraid the shoe fits. How many pleas to stop doing that will it take for you to learn?

To say that there was a lot of that going on back in the day doesn't really capture the reality of it.

There was a lotta lotta lotta lotta lotta of that that going on.
The only reason I was never charged with the same thing is that I was never caught. Behind the bushes at the library was like an automatic stop on the walk home from downtown.

Public intox is a law that needs to be revamped. If a person is walking home from a bar instead of driving let them go. If they’re being stupid then give them a ticket for disorderly conduct. Some are smart enough to not drive while under the influence, give them a break.
I assume we're talking the IC or University Heights police here.

Yeah, they're not going to cut kids a break.

Tough news for someone well-regarded in the program. No announcement on any punishment yet, KF presser tomorrow afternoon.

Such a petty thing. We can't stop fentanyl, we can't stop heroin or meth, cannot protect schools from known nuts but hey, those college kids getting drunk and then WALKING away is a law enforcement crisis.

You know the city fathers of Iowa City, who are perhaps the most dishonest people with whom I've ever had contact in 40 years of lawyering and especially the morons in University Heights should be reminded without the University none of them would have jobs.

True but immaterial. If the lefties post their bullshit here, in a public forum, its incumbent upon those who disagree to voice their disagreement and the grounds therefore. That quickly turns into a 20 post conflict, and I'll say I won most of mine. But no one wants to see or read that-it consumes the topic under discussion.

I am a former GOP party leader. If I can refrain from discussing politics 6 days before a general election, anyone can.

Only if the computer lab was locked. It had nice clean seldom used bathrooms.

The last thing a cop wants to do is arrest someone for public intoxication, generally they've done something to force the issue and make the cop do their job.
The people in the Des Moines suburbs, especially Altoona and Pleasant Hill would disagree. People are hunted for the slightest infraction-as long as state money is in it.

So you were born with it, but you’ve also worked at it. Impressive!

One time I got pulled over by an Iowa City police officer for having an air freshener hanging from my rear view mirror. It’s illegal to obstruct your view!

Take a kid home or at worst give him a ticket, but arresting someone for walking while drunk might be one of the biggest examples of government over reach I've heard of.

Thanks for the chuckle I needed that this morning.
