Lee and Warner lead young Hawks into action at the UNI Open

Maybe this will quiet Schwab a bit. You think of Iowa had a vendetta against UNI Brands would send anyone to UNI. Especially Lee & Warner.

Spencer told me yesterday to quote him on this after tallking about the negative postings about TNT. “The reason I am at Iowa is because of Tom and Terry Brands and you can quote me”.

Tell that to the "fans" who questioned whether Lee and Warner should still consider wrestling at Iowa after the teams lackluster performance vs Illinois. This is going to be that kind of year on this board. Up and Down. Fair-weather fans breaking out their true colors.

With Andegre's possible shirt-pulled + PD3 lineup that brings up a question:

When was the last time a D1 teams December lineup had 5 completely different starts come NCAAs? (We'd have new starters at 125, 133, 165, 184 and 197) I'm sure it's happened, but it's gotta be rare. Even with that lineup (as exciting as it is), I still see the Hawks finishing behind PSU and tOSU. I think tOSU might nip PSU at Nationals assuming Tomasello is healthy. They have more depth without any real holes in their lineup than PSU.
125- NATO
133- Pletch
141- Joey Mac
149- Keshawn
157- M Jo
165- Campbell
174- Bo Jo
184- My Mar
197- K Moore
Hwt- The Olympic/World Champ

That lineup is probably good for 8-9 AAs with a 4-5 finalists.

Very nice post.

This is the kind of good info that someone who is in the room a lot can provide to the rest of us that can only speculate what's really happening. Accurate, factual info can quiet the rowdy crowd quickly.

For starters, what does Schwab need to be "quieted" over? Are you aware of him mocking or bad mouthing Brands? If so, fill me in.

Second, what "vendetta" would he have, other than expressing frustration that the annual Iowa/UNI tradition is now gone?

Perhaps this video will shed some light on this supposed "vendetta" and "mocking?" Keep in mind that Doug's wife contacted these folks to speak, which suggests that had Doug had a "vendetta" Brands wouldn't have been contacted. Brands' message also suggests zero bad blood. Check the 5:30 point.

BB,

Are you an Iowa fan, a UNI fan, or a fan of both?

Maybe I'm miss interpreting or miss remembering, but Doug has made several comments mocking, poking fun, etc., etc. towards Iowa in regards to Iowa's unwillingness to wrestle UNI. The most recent via Twitter at Conflict of Carver. Maybe some of my recollection is from speculation, but it has been common knowledge.

On the flip side of that I do believe that all parties would rise above the wrasslin gripes, i.e. your video, when wrestling isn't involved. Unlike the Ramos situation.

I think you might be taking my post a little too literally. Certain words were used for effect. I do stand behind the meaning however. I think that anyone who's read this board over the years would see the substance behind it & agree.

The Iowa coaches have treated Doug like a deserter ever since he took the UNI job. They do not have a good relationship.

Careful Spooner, that’s anti Brands. You will be labeled a whiner. I have always heard that. Best friend turned enemy because he wanted career advancement. I get the us vs. them thing. You’re either with us or against us. I actually kind of get it. Apparently Gilman gets it too.

I like Brands. But shunning a guy (and his wife) that you have a 15 year relationship with because he went to coach UNI is just odd.

I don't know the details/status of their relationship but above is literally a video of Brands saying he loves Schwab.

I'm solely a UNI fan; a long time one at that.

Schwab has pointed out that he's frustrated that we can't make the dual happen any more-especially this year, from a UNI standpoint :)-but he's made no malicious jabs at the coaching staff for not making it happen. As I pointed out, Schwab and the Brands' are still close with one another, so there's certainly no ill feeling.

You can look at his Twitter account to see that nothing has been malicious, just some frustration with not seeing the dual happen.

BB,

What is your point & what are you trying to accomplish here?

I'll tell you mine. I've grown tired of hearing & seeing Schwab's comments. Move on, & control the controllables. You are acting like the "chip on your shoulder" younger brother. You were a absolute great Hawkeye. You are building something good at UNI. You are better than your back handed jabs. Move on. You are acting like the scorned ex-girlfriend. If you want to prove something do it on the recruiting trail & at NCAA's. Where it counts. Not at Fight Night & Twitter.

Secondly, I doubt you know the relationship between Schwab & Brands. I also highly doubt it is what it once was, nor do either send each other Holiday cards.

Enough said.

As someone who follows Hawkeyes wrestling but is by no means the most knowledgeable-and having been out of country for a while for work, was hoping to see if someone can explain where we are with certain guys?

Lee- sounds like if he wrestles well here and in coming weeks, likely skipping redshirt and in lineup after Midlands?

Warner- same or will he redshirt as we have several options at that weight and PD3 waiting in wings?

PD3-still on schedule? If so, what happens at 184 after he comes in?

Thanks for any insight you have
