I know I might be looking to far ahead but, i hope Lee takes 3 titles with maybe 1 upset, and breaks Iowa records or comes close.
That being said, I just feel like he might just get injured to many times and end up spending too much time fighting his way back to be dominate.
I hope not. We need a break or two to get us back on top and he might be the spark we need.

Or he may very well stay completely healthy, dominate, win 4 NCAA chapionships and an olympic gold medal.

Don’t be scared, homie....

Even injured, I could see him pulling off a Cory Clark type run at the Championships. Some just have enough talent and can adapt to their injury. I would take him with 1 arm or 1 leg against anyone at his weight.

Somebody was going o say it: have you watched Spencer wrestle, seen how many different venues he has competed in and WON already? Probably doesn’t need to be reborn.

Lee's technical skills and past accomplishments put him in extremely rarified air. Only Metcalf came close to being that kind of recruit, for Brands.

If Lee stays healthy, the sky is the limit.

But in the past few years, he has had 3 surgeries. One for shoulder, another for knee and most recently for a hernia. Any of these could recur, with shoulder (labrum) tending to be the most worrisome.

I'm cautiously optimistic, but once in a while crap happens. I'd hold off penciling him in for 4 ncaa titles and Olympic gold. Let's get him completely healed and take it from there. A Midlands title and work towards that first ncaa title.

You think you are scared. What do you think the guys wrestling him feel like?

FWIW, my first thought was, "How long before he is beating all the guys of comparable weight in the room?"

If he stays healthy, I would expect a bump up in development this season, then utter nastiness the rest of the way. Health remaining the obvious key.

If he properly rehabs, he will be fine! That's a big if! Every college on the planet would give Lee a full ride! No brainer! Even if he gets hurt, it won't cost you more than a one year scholarship

I think you are both right. He has won under some of the biggest lights possible against some of the best competition. But there are always rough edges to be smoothed out, technique to be polished. Believe it or not, new technique to be learned. Maybe more than all of that, with all that he has learned from the multitude of coaches that he has had, is just having a full time strength and conditioning coach on board.

This is really the reason that I hope he stays redshirted. One full year of training(and wrestling unattached of course). Getting stronger in areas he has never had time to really develop due to his heavy wrestling schedule while not going through the grueling schedule that we wrestle. I think this(and of course technique/wrestling) will be invaluable to a long HEALTHY career.

GO HAWKS!!!

Assuming he's healthy (which you can basically say for any kid) I think the only hurdles he has in route to 4 is Fix and Suriano. Honestly, if I had to pick I would pick him over Suriano and a toss-up with Fix. I'm not sure Fix or Suriano are career 125's. I hope they both are only because those battles would be absolutely epic over the next 3-4 years. Fix vs. Lee for four years would add a great chapter to the Hawk/Cowboy rivalry.

I like Lee in Folkstyle. I just watched Fix get turned by Karam on a match posted by FLO. His top and bottom work is no way the same level in Folk as it is in Freestyle. I don't think the match will be as close as most think in Folkstyle. I think Lee turns him. I hope we get to see them wrestle in Folkstyle.

That match was several years ago. I like Lee over both of those guys as well, but they are legitimate competition and it would not shock me for either of them to beat him. I would expect those 3 to split some matches and hopefully Lee always comes out on top at NCAAs.

I thought Fix looked a lot bigger than Nato in their 23 and under matches.

I think both Fix and Suriano will be at 133 come next season I can see Piccinnini at 25 and Fix up at 133 could be wrong but I have a hunch when Lee starts crushing everyone they go up..

Anytime a guy has a history of injury it's cause for concern, especially when he's the hottest prospect on the team, but what's will happen will happen and there is nothing us fan's can do.

As far as Fix and Suriano, I agree that they both are at 33 by the time Spencer hits the line up. Picc is going to be a tough out for SL, I see him taking a few losses along the way, but if he stay's healthy, I think he has a shot at a few finals matches, maybe more.

Your grammar scares me. ;)

I feal scarred....:D

I would two. I don't feel like Lee's shoulder is a big deal...I've had five for the same reason and they seem fine. The knee is a different animal. I had my knee done and I'll drop like a basketball player at a wrestling practice as soon as it gets outside pressure.

Honest question, who's the last guy to beat a healthy Lee in folkstyle, and how long ago?
Was it Suriano a few years ago?

Was it Suriano a few years ago?

Lee's last folkstyle loss (prior to DeSanto), was to Suriano in the Super 32 finals. Lee was in 8th grade and Suriano was a freshman. Lee lost by one point when Suriano took him down in the last second of the match. Lee lost 2 Pts for illegal holds and had Suriano on his back twice and did not get back points. The first time was close and the 2 nd time was a horrible non call by the ref.

Lee and Suriano met again in the finals the next year and Lee won in OT with a counter off of what may have been Surianos only committed shot. Suriano was warned for stalling and the commentators debated most of the match if the refs would call the second stall call in the finals.

Both matches are on Flo but I wasn't able to copy the link. Both are good in neutral and are tough to take down. Lee dominates Suriano from the top position.
