What was shocking? That Michigan failed to live up to the hype? That happens nearly every year. It's still early, but my preseason prediction is on target.Wow! Shocking

What's challenging about it? They sit among the hottest HS wrestling districts in the country, and have had a great reputation for several decades. Besides that, they are a second tier Ivy League type school.I can see why KemDawg had Lehigh on his shortlist with us......they must have a pretty solid operation to be doing this with a challenged recruiting pipeline.

Yes, they sit in Pennsylvania and are right across the river from NJ. Even if PSU takes first choice, the next wave of wrestlers is top notch.
Plus there are some 10 other D1 schools in Pennsylvania that can fight for that second crop of talent after PSU.I understand it’s not a no-brainer, but having high academic admissions standards (and classroom expectations), combined with not being one of the Big10/12 powerhouse programs, will surely rule them out for a lot of super-talented recruits.
The ultra-competitive blue-chippers will want to go against the best of the best in a Big10 schedule, and the kids who don’t have much interest in advanced academics will not want the headache and challenge of an Ivy-esque education. For the kid (like a Kemerer) who wants that challenge, it’s a great fit. But ultimately even KemDawg knew that his path to elite skill was best served by a powerhouse wrestling room and a Big10 schedule.
