Less Stupid Trumper Posters

I get asked regularly why I don’t ignore MAGA posters. I guess it’s a combo of factors.
  1. I like to watch as their positions change - even when they change for the worse (take Phenom and Wop as examples). It’s fascinating watching people fall down the rabbit hole. Also fascinating when they crawl out of it.
  2. It helps me understand where we are at as a country. I was out of touch this last election cycle and don’t want to be that surprised again.
  3. They can be fun to play with if you are jonesing for some schadenfreude.
In any event, my take is that MAGA is a spectrum. On the one hand you have folks like Whiskey who I would enjoy hanging out with. He seems like an honest guy who is IMO simply blinded by his political affiliation. On the other side you have Here4ever who I’m sure his classmates voted “most likely to die in prison” and has said nothing of worth since the day he joined the board.

Net net, they aren’t all awful human beings - despite their awful judge of character in the people they support.

Some good discussion, not many proposed posters. Although Hans appeared, he's a decent one, although has a bit of a harmless, sympathetic vibe, which I suspect is age/elderly related.

Hard to compete w/ Trumpers on Stupidity...

Woke nukes must be stopped!!!

I have seen a lot of what seemed to me more independent and moderate conservative posters on this board spiral down into massive MAGA defenders and contortionists over the last 6 years. It is kind of sad to see. But I have also seen a smaller subset go the other way, and be some of the board’s greatest critics of MAGA. Tip of the cap to them.

One thing I am noticing is the MAGA Trump defender brigade are already getting very thin skinned playing defense. It would have to be exhausting to defend such obvious malfeasance and incompetence, with hints of wanting to trully rip constitution and become the United States of Russia. I would be tired and bitchy too, having to spin.
When you move from 50% of the country agreeing with you to 30% of the country agreeing with you because your party has lurched left, of course the center feels more right wing to you.

The center is still the center, it's just that Trump decided to appeal to the center. Anyone who is "hate trump first, everything else second" now sees the center as MAGA idiots.

Easy math.

The left has lurched left a bit. The right has lurched right a lot.

Many of the people in the center are disconnected from the day-to-day political news…they are going to work, coaching theirs kids sports, visiting OPs mom…you know stuff everyday people do. I do think Trump tapped into something on the prices, boys in girls sports and the border. But the center is highly fickle. If he doesn’t bring down prices they will start voting blue in short order.

It is easy math and you're wrong. Trump got like 51% to 49% for Biden.

And the Democrats deserve all the criticism in the world for that, especially those who gaslighted the American people about Biden being okay, but electing Trump a second time was beyond insane.

It is a false equivalence.
Until there is legitimate proof that Biden had dementia I will stand by what I always said…he was an old man who was slowing down. Nothing came out of his administration that said he wasn’t the boss. Nothing from our allies said Biden wasn’t in charge. People need to compare that to what Trump’s inner circle said about him in real time when he was POTUS. You’re right. It’s a false equivalency but an even larger one than people will admit. Biden. Was. In. Charge. Until I hear different from people who were there, anything contrary is a damn lie. Him leaving the teleprompter more than any president ever to rip Republicans was totally dismissed because he had an old man night struggling for the first 20 minutes of a debate against an opponent who lied 30 times.

You are definitely one of the idiots who circled the drain and now shamelessly fluff for Trump and pretend like all this is great. History will be very unkind to you.

If you factor in there used to be New Deal Democrats and Republicans and now there are I feel like it makes the alignments look more obvious. Maybe 10ish fit that description for Democrats and none for the Republicans. I believe it is clear both have moved right. Reagan really fostered in neoliberalism era and ever since 1992 it has been running the Democrats as well. Any social change made under Democrats is pretty modest. I don't think social change is enough to make up for their move to the right economically.

The Republicans under maga are off the charts far right currently. I think that messes with perception. Imperialism, autocracy, and openly letting plutocrats run around and do whatever they want in the government shows where they are.

Bernie Sanders is a centrist in Europe. Nancy Pelosi would be right wing. Trump is in AfD territory.

Yeah, again I don’t understand that thinking. 95% of the right has succumbed to the radical right. There are like 3-4 far left members of Congress the rest of the party tries to cater to the middle so when they say the left went too far left they really don’t know what they are talking about per usual.

Think of the last 4 years…what wild and crazy policies did Biden push through? Maybe the most left was student loan forgiveness, but when you consider the billions in socialism Elon and defense contractors have received over the decades, was it really THAT terrible of Biden to help young Americans with college degrees??

In a propaganda model what they have done is repeat it over and over again that the left has gone far left. You probably have a portion of people that believe it to be true because they have heard it so often. You also have some that probably just forfeit that ground whether or not they believe it because they don't want to put in the effort to refute. I don't blame them as it can be explained to them over and over again, they will shove it out of their head, and go back to saying the left has gone far left. So I get why many people don't bother correcting it.

I have pretty much wrote off most of them. I do sincerely appreciate the ones have decided they can't abide by what's happening now and have become bedfellows with the left.

I believe the next ones that will become bedfellows with the left will not be because of any discussion here but will be victims of FAFO. I do not believe we will see any movement in the other direction.

Basically that leaves us with what I call the "too far gone" posters. They are only worth interacting with if you want to punch down or rack up likes by making an idiot look like an idiot. I'm guilty of taking the jabs.

My ignore list is also enormous at this point. Everyone that voted that what Elon did wasn't a NaI salute went on my ignore list with the exception of two. On occasion I show hidden content and mess with them, but when I'm done with the interaction I am gone and without a care for what they handle to say typically.
Did you block me?

- shows ignored content -

I don't need to wade through sewer to get what I want out of these forums. I have never seen anything remotely compelling from you so why would I waste the time?

I am also very aware that so many of your collective's identity is tied into "owning the libs." Another way to look at that is when I don't interact with that type of poster I am taking something away which is my interaction.
So you have people on ignore, yet respond to it? Loser

100% agree mainstream Dems have moved right economically. But I do think some social changes have gone a bit farther left than the Dems of 40 years ago would support. As an example Obama said during his 2008 presidential campaign that he wasn’t in favor of gay marriage. As I understand it that was a political calculation necessary to win the presidency because he had said before that (and after) he was in favor of it.

It is crazy to me that DADT and legalized gay marriage are such new things still. I guess those are both back in play now for change.

Like the blue did so well the last 4 years. Why do you think America elected Trump? Most will give Trump more than 3 1/2 weeks to clean up Joe's mess and turn it around.

The Democrats have been harping constantly on every Trump move. Ridiculous whining much of the time, but expected nonetheless. Trump and Musk sit back laughing at their attempts by the libs to drive them apart on their agenda to cut the over bloated government, fraud, wasteful spending and to Make America Great Again.

First part of your statement is spot on. The left helped DT become the front runner.

Many of the smarter ones have scaled back posting as they know most of this stuff is indefensible or embarrassing. Probably already trying to put some distance between themselves and Trump in “real life” as well.
Perhaps because there is comfort in knowing the people have spoken and the right candidate is in office, nothing more nothing less.

No legitimate proof? Have you watched any of Bidens attempts at press conferences? He wanders around on stage looking for the stairs until Jill rescues him.

He wanders off at photo shoots with other world leaders, he falls asleep in meetings, he shakes hands with ghosts....
