First off I don’t blame this play on Iowa’s loss but I would like a clear understanding of the rule.

understandimg is that the player when making the step back hop has to land both feet simultaneously. They also need to make the hop before establishing a pivot foot “both hands on ball”.

First half carr step back:

I believe one in second half was bigger violation.

Rules definition:

Personally hate seeing this NBA garbage infiltrating college ball. Convince me otherwise.

It’s a travel. If a player did the same move and passed it instead of a shot they’d blow the whistle.

Why is JT allowed to carry the ball all the time? When Woolridge did that all the time he'd at least get called once a game to keep it honest. And now it's never called. Why is Garza allowed to hook everybody in the post during his up and unders? There are a lot of things that used to be called more than they are now. It's annoying but if it goes both ways you live with it.

I liked Carr’s double step back from the corner late in the game. He took one step back that didn’t create enough space so he took a 2nd step back.

You can do it with out traveling but most of the time its a travel.

The one in the second half was 4 steps.

To make it actually be a clean play you're last forward step needs to happen simultaneously with a dribble.
Then you can take 2 steps back.

The reffs are letting more and more slop go with step backs and euro steps. Its annoying.
