Lisa’s loyalty

Marshall and Davis should be playing behind fuerbach and affolter. Heck McCabe should be getting some more.
Grady is definitely better goodman
O'Grady is light years behind Goodman. O'Grady does not what it means to establish the post. She has no presence and does not fight for rebounds. She plays the transition game better than Goodman but Goodman is better in almost every other facet.

AOG is just a kind hearted kid. I imagine the staff is pulling their hair out at times. Tenacity is not easily instilled.

No doubt she has the skills but she has to want it. She played a lot better as a freshman. She seems very tentative this year. Goodman is not quite there yet but has played well up to tonight. She was getting bounced around tonight because the refs were letting Crooks throw her weight around. Hard to establish position and take a charge when the opposing player has 80- 100 lbs on you.

Light years??? Sharon’s hands are questionable and her left hand is even more questionable. Both are traits Iowa offense has to have.
Side note: gabby has more minutes than McCabe and fuerbach combined and her stats look very bad by comparison.

Gabby is a good defender by Iowa basketball standards, but it not like she is Gary Payton out there. I don't think the wheels would come off if McCabe and Feuerbach took about 1/2 of her minutes and added 4+ pts a piece to the box score. Affolter is already getting 20-25 minutes per game so they can't all go to her.

She's a helluva gritty player and has nack for the ball. She also can take it to the hole
This. Gabby has zero ability to score inside. If you're one-dimensional any coach with half a brain will eliminate the one threat you do possess, and now you're completely worthless on the offensive end of the court. She won the Maryland game for us in the Big Ten tourney last year but looking like those days are over. Six years in she needs more of a game than she has now. She's a great kid, lots of effort, but if she can't make an open 3 her minutes need to be limited.

Gabby plays good defense. They just need to quit running offensive plays for her until her shot comes back. She shot red hot towards the end of last season.
How does she get her shot back without taking shots?? That’s why good coaches tell their players to keep shooting …..the only way out is to shot. Must instill confidence in your players!

Lisa’s patience with Gabby hasn’t paid off - this team needs scorers on the floor in a bad way.

Unless Marshall is WIDE open behind the arc when she gets the ball, she’s zero threat to do anything. It’s clear her first thought is “Where’s Caitlin”

I just don't get why coach B doesn't give McCabe minutes especially when were struggling from the outside as she can knock down 3s. What am I missing here that she doesn't get PT because when CC is in the game she demands so much attn that leaves our wings wide open for the kickout and when Gabby and a few others aren't hitting why not get her in as she seems to be a great outside shooter.

she has 0 free throw attempts this year.

In the meantime, maybe give others a chance to shine?

It’s like Kirk sticking with a quarterback every snap, every game b/c AT SOME POINT Hill might do something good.
Because, like KF, Lisa thinks that she gives Iowa the best chance to win. The game last night could've gone either way. It was an important in-State win.

It could've gone either way, and GM was chucking up cinder blocks. Glad they won, but you get the same defensive prowess from Kylie and a much larger offensive threat. McCabe is an even bigger scoring threat and the defense doesn't appear that far behind (I will grant you that she hasn't been guarding the oppositions best scorer).

Her insistence in keeping Marshall in when she is simply a liability is head-scratching. Kylie by far brings more to the table.
You do realize that she is by far the best defender on the team and always guarding the other teams best guards? The game is not all about scoring (maybe Fran needs some pointers in this).....you have GOT to play defense to and that is why she is on the floor so much!

Absolutely do, but would argue Kylie is just as good a defender. Even if she was a little behind GM, at least the threat of KF scoring would make up for it.

Legitimate point, I think. I have not watched every game but from what I have seen, Feuerbach is an excellent defender. In addition, she is a much better rebounder than Gabby. I also agree with the previous comment that there is no harm in sitting Marshall if the shots are not falling. Clark desperately needs other outside scoring threats on the floor.

Scoring is the least of their worries, particularly when Stuelke gets back to full speed. Post defense and rebounding are bigger issues.

That being said, I would bring in Affolter to starting lineup and move out Davis. And Martin needs to be a little more selfish on offense

While I tend to agree with most of your points, I would also say Kylie turns the ball over more frequently than does GM.

Collectively way behind last year. They got schooled by a freshman last nite.
I don't think "schooled" is correct. When a 275lb kid is "body up" on you and in slow motion, you can't even draw an offensive foul.

You can probably count on one finger anyone similar to Crooks in the country.

That was one BIG girl though and fairly athletic. It REALLY helped keep her in the game more with it being on TV. Gave her extra 5 minute rests so she could play more in the 2nd half. Pretty sure that was her most minutes in a game this year, and the TV really helped that.

That’s a very good point. The extra time outs were certainly helpful to her.

Not quite accurate. I believe she was BAD almost all year until the B1G tourney.
Gabbie started shooting the ball well around the last 6 games of the regular season. This year I've noticed her defense hasn't been on the same level it has been which is the bigger problem. Bluder has the depth to move people around but she's stubborn when it comes to her starters, always has been.
