There is a fair amount of talent in Ames, but the OL situation is ghastly on paper.I would not put much into the chest thumping, they are all still excited about there new coaching hire, and I think he is going to be a good hire, but whether the chest thumping will show up on the field this season remains to be seen. They have enough talent to beat the Hawks if the Hawks don't take care of business. I don't see that happening unless the injury bug runs rampant for Iowa this year.

STORM IS BREWING, SOUND THE SIREN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PARTLY CLOUDY IN DES MOINES WITH SPRINKLES IN LAMES!!!!!!I don't follow ISU much, but that's a relief to me if true. Iowa's defense should be pretty good this year. But then again, I take nothing for granted in this series... how is ISU's defense supposed to be this year?
I think there are four or five guys with eligibility remaining and starting experience who were expected to be back but won't be, mostly due to injuries. The center is a redshirt freshman who never played the position at any level until about three weeks ago; I'd guess about 20% of his snaps in the spring game went somewhere other than the quarterback's hands. The OL was dominated in the spring game. That's ironic cause my one friend who is a clone fan who went to the spring game said the same thing. Got some skill player talent namely Warren and Lazard to be excited about but OL (with Burton I believe leaving to injury) going to be a major concern this year he said. Said wouldn't surprise him if in Iowa game Jaleel Johnson is in their backfield all day.
Lazard punching walls and was out.I think there are four or five guys with eligibility remaining and starting experience who were expected to be back but won't be, mostly due to injuries. On the bright side (1) the #1 defense is expected to be fairly decent; (2) Campos didn't play; (3) you can't tell anything from spring games; (4) there are some newcomers who sound decent on paper; (5) Manning was national OL coach of the year in '15.
BTW, if your friend was impressed with Warren and Lazard in the spring game, I'd take his other comments with a grain of salt, since neither of them played![]()
As a Iowa State fan, i am cautiously optimistic about Campbell. On the surface, he appears to be making all the right moves so far, and has been very aggressive in recruiting. He is bringing in much needed enthusisam to the program. Part of that is his use of social media - catering to "today's youth". All of this is fine, and Im ok with this approach. He needs to gain ground back in Iowa with Iowa kids, coaches, and HS programs. If that offends Iowa fans, so be it. You cant fault the guy for his energy + enthusiasm.....but I will be more sold when he wins some games. I think, in time, he will get the progeam going again. Time will tell. If nothing else, ISU fans are looking forward to 2016. - 0% chance that would be true had they kept Rhoads for 1 more year.
You may never surpass Iowa in this state, and you wont catch up to Baylor, OU, etc in a year (if ever).
Uh, they can do it because they're in texas. You guys can try to get people, like the #2 RB in the 2017 class...but your coaches are simply wasting their time if they are actually putting time into kids like that.I don't know the history of Baylor football that well, but my impression was that they've become a big thing in about 10 years' time? If they can do it, why can't anybody else (or anybody in the state of Texas)?
picked up a high ranked 3 star DE today, should move the class rank up in the top 20sIowa State is putting together a nice class so far, all 3 stars except a kid from TX who isn't ranked.

High ranked 3 star?
By the way you know your ranking will fall considerably when the number of other schools in terms actual signings go up. Iowa will fall as well. Just not as much. For example you are ahead of So Cal and MSU. That obviously won't stay there but by all means put a picture of him in front of the scoreboard. Exciting.
i posted top 20s, thanks for verifying.Their newest savior is what moved them from #27 to #24. Someday 4 eyed cy will get it right. That day just isn't today.
it's just nice to see the work ethic in recruiting from the new coaches, if it goes up or down remains to be seen. I would be very happy with a class rank of 20-30 every yearHigh ranked 3 star?
