Notice the scoreboard. Love the headline to, states #1 LB. he is 12th prospect in State and Iowa didn't touch him.

More than other years, I hope the Hawks beat the piss out of ISU this year in Kinnick. I actually like their hire in Campbell, but their chest thumping about how everything is about to turn around and be a regular contender is getting annoying. Need to be put in their place.

Which isn't even true about the #1 LB bc their other commit Vance is ranked a lot higher.

Background pic has Iowa losing to Iowa State 21-0 just 10 minutes into the game while Iowa has 425 yards of total offense and Iowa State has 434 (again, just 10 minutes into the game), the video monitor has two different teams (Arkansas and Baylor maybe?), and the stadium is mostly red.

I would not put much into the chest thumping, they are all still excited about there new coaching hire, and I think he is going to be a good hire, but whether the chest thumping will show up on the field this season remains to be seen. They have enough talent to beat the Hawks if the Hawks don't take care of business. I don't see that happening unless the injury bug runs rampant for Iowa this year.

Yep little bro being little bro. The fact Iowa is on the scoreboard at all proves just how obsessed they are. No worries isu grads will be along any minute now to tell us how it really is.

Has isu ever been up on the Hawks 21-0?

what is that thing above the scoreboard supposed to be? Looks like the Hindenburg exploding.

I would be embarrassed if I were a Cyclone fan that somebody put Iowa and the logo on the scoreboard. Why not just show a blurred scoreboard and, oh, I don't know, maybe somebody from your own team on the video feed?

I understand the obsession they have that is why I am not surprised they used the Iowa graphic / score deal. What is more insane is the use of the picture on the scoreboard; wouldnt you use one from an Iowa / IA State game? Or at the very least an Iowa St game? It looks like D3 Mount Union. I would fire whoever put that together for cause.

There is a fair amount of talent in Ames, but the OL situation is ghastly on paper.

That's ironic cause my one friend who is a clone fan who went to the spring game said the same thing. Got some skill player talent namely Warren and Lazard to be excited about but OL (with Burton I believe leaving to injury) going to be a major concern this year he said. Said wouldn't surprise him if in Iowa game Jaleel Johnson is in their backfield all day.

I don't follow ISU much, but that's a relief to me if true. Iowa's defense should be pretty good this year. But then again, I take nothing for granted in this series... how is ISU's defense supposed to be this year?

I think there are four or five guys with eligibility remaining and starting experience who were expected to be back but won't be, mostly due to injuries. The center is a redshirt freshman who never played the position at any level until about three weeks ago; I'd guess about 20% of his snaps in the spring game went somewhere other than the quarterback's hands. The OL was dominated in the spring game.

On the bright side (1) the #1 defense is expected to be fairly decent; (2) Campos didn't play; (3) you can't tell anything from spring games; (4) there are some newcomers who sound decent on paper; (5) Manning was national OL coach of the year in '15.

BTW, if your friend was impressed with Warren and Lazard in the spring game, I'd take his other comments with a grain of salt, since neither of them played ;)

Lazard punching walls and was out.

Hype like this comes out of the good 'ol Marketing department. It's the world we live in ... Take a story (any story) and spin it until it says what you want to convey ...

Now, "Taking the Country by Storm" ... well ... it doesn't really mean much when your program is 118-206 since 1987. I get that Campbell and ISU need to sell something to fans ... "Taking the country by storm" is just way too cheesy ... Bad play on "Cyclones" and tornados and "storms" ... (I work in Marketing and Communications for one of the largest banks in the world ... and this is cheesy with a capital "C" ... ISU first needs to win some football games ON THE FIELD

As a Iowa State fan, i am cautiously optimistic about Campbell. On the surface, he appears to be making all the right moves so far, and has been very aggressive in recruiting. He is bringing in much needed enthusisam to the program. Part of that is his use of social media - catering to "today's youth". All of this is fine, and Im ok with this approach. He needs to gain ground back in Iowa with Iowa kids, coaches, and HS programs. If that offends Iowa fans, so be it. You cant fault the guy for his energy + enthusiasm.....but I will be more sold when he wins some games. I think, in time, he will get the progeam going again. Time will tell. If nothing else, ISU fans are looking forward to 2016. - 0% chance that would be true had they kept Rhoads for 1 more year.

I get what you are saying but moves like this just make him (right or wrong) get lumped in with the rest of the garbage. In other words nothing has changed. Not that I give too much of a rip, it just seems like the first group (ad and hc) that come in and start acting like their focus is to compete at the top level of the conference and begin to do so, they have a more sustainable model. Right now they seem to spend the bulk of their time beating their chest within the state's border and hope somebody is watching. I just don't get the mentality.

I agree Packer54. Something to be said for "actions speak louder tnan words". Start by winning the non-conference games you are supposed to win, then start beating teams in your conference that are "at your level" (K State), then its okay to raise expectations. You may never surpass Iowa in this state, and you wont catch up to Baylor, OU, etc in a year (if ever).

I don't know the history of Baylor football that well, but my impression was that they've become a big thing in about 10 years' time? If they can do it, why can't anybody else (or anybody in the state of Texas)?

Uh, they can do it because they're in texas. You guys can try to get people, like the #2 RB in the 2017 class...but your coaches are simply wasting their time if they are actually putting time into kids like that.

Iowa State has swung and missed with Chizik and Rhoads. Perhaps they are due. Campbell seems young, bright, and is bringing energy back into the program. Granted, Chizik and Rhoads created the same excitement when they were first hired, so obviously the jury is still out.

This is why you get rid of losing head coaches after 4-5 years. Need to recreate excitement. This hype is expected and normal, given the situation.

Like any new coach... needs a bowl game by the third year. They need to win three OOC games a year and somehow steal three more in conference. With teams like Kansas, KSU, and TTech, that's doable.

Substitute Chizik for Mac or Rhoads for Chizik and I am sure I have seen this movie before. In fact it was isu grads that proudly wore t-shirts and had bumper stickers that said isu is finer with Criner. Hell even Walden was hailed as isu's next savior back when he arrived. I guess when your last NFL first round draft pick was in the 1970's and your last conference title was in 1912 with a 2-1-1 record, it is damn near impossible for isu grads to know what a good team or players actually look like.

It is what makes their inevitable train wreck that much more entertaining.

picked up a high ranked 3 star DE today, should move the class rank up in the top 20s

High ranked 3 star?

By the way you know your ranking will fall considerably when the number of other schools in terms actual signings go up. Iowa will fall as well. Just not as much. For example you are ahead of So Cal and MSU. That obviously won't stay there but by all means put a picture of him in front of the scoreboard. Exciting.

Your newest savior is already figured in and guess what the clowns are still #24.

Keep trying four eyed cy. Maybe someday you will be right.

Their newest savior is what moved them from #27 to #24. Someday 4 eyed cy will get it right. That day just isn't today.

it's just nice to see the work ethic in recruiting from the new coaches, if it goes up or down remains to be seen. I would be very happy with a class rank of 20-30 every year

Yep isu is now beating out KU & Eastern Michigan. Don't hold your breath thinking the clowns will be ranked 20-30 when all is said and done. Or better yet do hold your breath 4 eyed cy. You dopes will buy anything.
