Logan Jones Penalty

1st quarter, Jones plays through the whistle and sends a Washington defender to his bench.

15 yards, essentially killed the drive.

At the time, I was really irritated. Seriously man, you KNOW better than to pull that kind of stupid play.

But as the day went on, it was clear that our OL was playing with a nasty attitude that has too often been missing. I think some manhood was questioned in the meeting room after the OSU game, and the guys responded big time. That was a group of guys on mission, and they were blowing dudes up.

So, one penalty that killed a drive, but looking back, it was well worth it.

Totally agreed. It's been years since we had a mean streak up front. Also part of me as a person has a mentality that that's not a penalty. If you get your ass handed to you that bad you have to wear it. I'd feel the same had an Iowa Dlineman got whooped also.

Logan couldn't see the sideline. His facemask was pressed against the other guys mask.

It looked deliberate on the replay, he even got a high five from Gunner afterwards. Something probably happened earlier that warranted the play, like trash talk or dirty play from that Dlineman. It set the tone for the rest of the day.

I agree, escorting the d lineman across the field was deliberate as hell. Knowing where your feet are while doing so, maybe not!! Either way, I enjoyed it.

Blocking the entire d line or blitzing safeties isn't just the centers job. Most plays, the center has specific blocking assignments. Maybe that sack was on Logan alone missing blocks on four people, but I doubt it. It's a team sport.

I remember seeing a video years ago at “Hawkfest” of Robert Gallery manhandling a Penn State lineman at the LOS and engaging him 30 yds. Downfield and escorting him OB. Gallery won the Outland Trophy for his effort.

Your'e right, no one blocked, but he didn't touch anyone.
