Logan Ryan back on the team?

No, the downside is that you are here contaminating the board with your unbridled prejudice.

True.

FT's concerns about fans "acting like these guys are toy soldiers" is applied to Iowa only. No mention when it's PSU/Cael.

From an interview with Jason Bryant : <<About the big weight cut, "My body was just giving out," Taylor says.>>

No comment on FT's post, but how long has Taylor been out of school?

The one thing Cael has shown is a general willingness to have guys move up.

Looks like Grothus is doing it the right way this year - we'll soon see how effective he can be.

Isn't the downside that Brody ends up back in the hospital again? Unfortunately many wrestling fans have a tendency to act like these guys are toy soldiers when it comes to changing weights and forget there are health consequences to be considered.

I don't think any wrestler in history has ever given their personal health during a cut much of a thought...until they've reached about 50 years old.

The irony is that a good number of Iowa fans on this board have mentioned that Brody shouldn't make the cut if it proves to be too hard on his body. That doesn't support the anti-Iowa narrative, though, so we'll just disregard it and assume Iowa fans just want Brody to make the cut at all costs.

It's my understanding that both Alton brothers wanted to wrestle down a weight but the PSU fans wouldn't stand for it, as it would have put them at undue risk.

Those boys had to stay the same weight for five years. Both looked good initially but by their junior years, you just had to wrestle them close and wait for the third period to beat them as they were a shell of their former selves. At first, it was good to see rival wrestlers lose but then you felt bad for them. I especially remember Collica vs D. Alton.

I think it's pretty clear that Brands lets guys wrestle wherever they want to go (I could post many examples but not going to bother).

But they also have to be mindful of what obstacles await them in their desire to be at a "comfortable" weight. Let us also keep in mind that not all wrestlers are created equal. Kyle Dake going up a weight is not the same thing as Brody Grothus going up a weight.

The 100% without a doubt best scenario for Iowa Wrestling and for Brody Grothus personally from a purely wrestling perspective, is for him to be a 141 lber this year. I don't think it's even remotely close to debatable.

from the same guy who was so concerned about weight cutting and wrestling fans acting like these guys are "toy soldiers" and forgetting "there are health consequences" comes this post on themat forum (about Dake):

I wish he would stay put and go down to 154 after the Olympics. He could be a multiple world champ there. >>

C'mon FT.... quit treating these wrestlers like "toy soldiers." You are forgetting about the health consequences!

lol....and typical....what a hypocrite!

Dake wrestled 3 of 4 years in college below or very near that weight. Grothus has never wrestled 141 in college and went to the hospital trying to cut down. I don't recall Dake having any medical issues making weight. Furthermore, freestyle and folkstyle have very different weight in rules. But yea, that's the same thing Rossel,

LOL! It's amazing how you leave out details that don't fit your agenda, or let common sense enter any part of the equation. Rossel nailed it, and you. LOL!

Dude...just stop. Brody attempted the cut within a couple of weeks and didn't work out and had to go get fluids...You act like he was in the ICU and it was tough and go. Somebody's been watching too much Gray's Anatomy. He has started two months before the start of the season and plans on being down by Midlands. A healthy plan if I've ever saw one. If it works out, Brody can potentially reach AA level or better. If it doesn't work out, so be it. I'd rather have Carton or Ryan give it a go than seeing Grothus stagger around defenseless in the third period because he can't handle the cut. I think Brands would feel the same way.

It's good that you care for the health of our wrestler's so much though.
