Love Cordell Pemsl

Pemsyl is the only player I can recall that has gotten worse in his career. Fat Pemsyl was the best Pemsyl version. He got skinny and lost all his skills. With all of his injuries he plays like an old man at the YMCA pickup game. Nunge tearing his ACL and Patrick redshirting is the only reason why he’s seeing any minutes.
I would rather see Till at this point and that’s not saying much!
CJF has to stay healthy. We are down to 8 scholarship guys, which includes Pemsyl. He needs to come in rebound and give the ball immediately to our guard. Don’t shoot and for God’s sake don’t throw him the ball when we are on offense. He’s a turnover machine!

He’s brand new to the team. There has been a very small sample size of playing time and in general his play has been trending up. He certainly didn’t hurt us against PSU, he just didn’t add much offensively. But you go ahead and form your conclusions, I’ll wait.
Done.

One thing I know, Garza currently is a difference maker that makes up for some of the other problems...namely injuries. Sure hope CJ heals fast as he is pretty dependable all-around player.

Sure was nice to see Toussaint make some plays...and he hit a 3....hope that builds his confidence. If he keeps building confidence, this team is better than last year with CJ doing the same.

He’s contributed 1 game out of 14. So we should expect him to contribute in 1 more game for the back half of the season?

Calling him worthless is a pretty narrow and silly view point.

He is a guy who is aware of his role. He knows who the scorers are and who he is.

On a team that is very thin he can handle the ball, play pretty good defense and knock down open shots.

All things this team needs.

yeah :(

What's your take? Personally, I think be plays lackadaisical at times; when his head is in the game, i think he can be a very solid back up
i think we need him to give 8 to 10 solid minutes a game . get some rebounds , which he does , no turnovers , use his fouls smartly . till might be a better athlete at this time but cordell has more heart .

I think Fran has said in the past that to win on the road you need to limit turnovers to around 11.

Well, Iowa had 15 turnovers; PSU had just 8. Dang it. With Iowa shooting 48% overall for the game, those 4 extra possessions (11 turnovers instead of 15) might have won us the game.

How many games is Evelyn still considered new to the team?!

He brings nothing to the floor. He’s just not a B1G player. Maybe not even a D1 player.

Connor Evelyn and Pemsl were terrible today. Evelyn needs to have more than 1 good game a month.
Can't figure him out at all. Senior who has played a lot of D1 ball. Comes up Bigtime when we need him against Cincy, and I'm thinking, YES, now he's ready to step up and give us 10-12 good minutes per game. Doesn't even look for a shot last night at all. Not once! Crazy as it may seem, he may be the most important factor on this team for the rest of the year. Either the switch comes on, and he gives the Hawks SOMETHING off the bench from the reserve backcourt, or we are in for a long rest of the season.....

But he has to at least look for his spots. I didn't see him even consider taking a shot last night when they were struggling....

A couple are real quick turnovers again last night. I can't believe you launch the three I'm actually proud of him for doing that. He just needs to play with confidence and he has no confidence right now

Love his heart, hustle and toughness just to be on the court! I feel bad for him that his knees don't allow him to play to his full potential. At this point he's a couple of steps behind the speed of a game, I think he'll figure it out and provide productive minutes yet.

You must be referring to freshman pemsl falling asleep with pizza boxes on his bed...cuz this dude is not good

I only saw him shoot his first 3, my hope is that next time he at least hits the rim..........;)

Agreed.

I feel like for whatever reason that junk defense Nebraska used made Iowa players hesitant, especially after they shot so poorly to start.

Bump. I'm not saying he's going to be THIS good the rest of the way but last night proved my point. I felt like he needed meaningful game minutes to shake the rust and if we were patient, he would be able to provide important and productive minutes down the stretch. Credit to coach for sticking with him.

Evelyn and Touissant played well also. It was a total team effort where everyone who played contributed. I love watching this team.

After reading through the comments and watch Evelyn and Pemsl last night there are a number of posters that should be having some crow for breakfast.
There's a great deal of difference in both of their games right now than earlier in the schedule. Great to see the improvement over the past several games and it couldn't have come at a better time. Solid minutes on the floor and huge confidence builder for both of them.
