Luka vs Bol Bol at MSG

So...is Bol Bol still growing? Seems more dexterous than his pappy, but shorter. He has a weird looking low-release outside shot, but who is going to block it? Thanks OP, I didn't know he existed. Will be fun to watch.

Yea doesn't seem like Luka will be full speed if he does play, but I'll be watching Bol Bol's career very closely. I saw him play a handful of times when he was going to school here in KC. Such a unique skill set. Great touch and handles for anyone - let alone someone with his size. I also watched games where he's about 6" taller than anyone on the court and he got held to two rebounds because he just hung around the perimeter. I'm fairly sure I could push him around. I just can't think of a player to really compare his game to it's so different. Heard he's a bit of a head case which I suppose is to be expected when you're the son of a NBA star and you've been recruited since you were 12 or whatever.

Seems to shoot from his shoulder. With his height, I've seen 7'2 and 7'3 listed, and his starting point on his shot, I'd think it's realistic to think anyone close to 7'0 might be able to block his jumper. I'd guess guys like Nowitzki and Durant both have far higher release points. But, how many will he shoot during a season in college? He has a MUCH more refined inside game than his dad did, he may shoot from the outside some, but I wouldn't think it would be a huge number of jumpers.

His biggest assets over his dad, he seems far more athletic, more filled out and seems to have a better feel for the game, particularly offensively.

I have seen Bol play numerous times on the AAU circuit. His game is totally different than his dads. More athletic, He grew up playing basketball where Manute learned quickly on the fly and had never really even seen basketball. Bol can play. He is not a center on offense. Probably be used on defense as a floater. Think Kelvin Cato at Iowa State. Just funnel the guard down the lane and let Bol block the shot.

I saw several tweets by Pete extolling Bol Bol in the past. Wasn't sure if that was the case due to the South Sudanese connection or his play or maybe even that Pete's family might know the Bols. Could be all?

This will be the biggest non con game for Iowa. Oregon is picked by many to win the PAC and with a polarising player like Bol Bol on their team will be a great chance for Iowa to get some national recognition. Iowa will be Bol Bol's first big college basketball test.

Too bad Shaq's son won't be playing this year for UCLA. Would have been fun to see O'Neal's kid battle against Bol's kid.

Tyger Campbell (former Hawk recruit) is supposed to be a freshman there this year as well and tore his ACL - out for the season. A rough go for the Bruins

Yeah, it's defensively that Bol can be real disruptive. 7'8" wingspan on a 7'2" athletic bigman can get in the head of a lot of guys. Have to have Cook's mentality of finishing thru the rim strong!

Where did you hear he was a head case?

I know his aunt personally. She actually lives here in Iowa, and is probably one of the nicest people on the planet. I've never heard anything but good things about Bol Bol.

On Manute Bol's basketball-reference page it lists Peter Jok as his nephew.

I can't wait for Cook to put Bol Bol trough the rim rim when he hammers one home.

People say one thing holding Garza back in terms of making the NBA is his defense.

Last night, Bol played 10 minutes, had 2 fouls, 1 turnover, scored just 4 pts, w/ 1 block & just 1 rebound.

And hell, if Bol Bol can make it in the NBA with this type of effort....

Watch as Wiseman drops the hammer on Bol last night:

I saw Bol block Wiseman at the rim on another attempt.
Luka is almost a finished product while Bol is still raw.
I think Luka can make the league in the right system but his speed and athleticism will hurt him in the draft.

I watched the end of the Rockets/Spurs game last night. The Rockets went on a crazy run to end the game because Christian Wood used LaMarcus Aldridge like a turnstile. I think Garza can make it as a backup center and situation player but he's always going to be limited. And boy does the NBA exploit matchups.
