BS. The internet was invented in 1983 but was not in public schools. You didn't have access to it. No Public or Private schools had access to the internet in the timeframe you are claiming. I can school you on this all day.

Okay, I guess I was in my early 30s when our school became the fiber optic endpoint for our county.
Governor Terry Branstad signed an authorizing bill in 1989. In 1991, construction began on Parts I and II of the network when one fiber optic endpoint was installed per county. In 1992 parts of the new fiber-optic system were activated. The network became operational in 1993 and by the next year the new network offered a full motion video connection to all 99 Iowa counties, its 3 state universities, public television, and state government. The Iowa Communications Network became a state agency directed by the Iowa Telecommunications and Technology Commission (ITTC) in 1994.

How so? I said I was wrong I was in my early 30s instead of late 20s. We had an ICN room in our building early which also allowed us to connect to the internet. We had a very forward thinking administration and technology director that always gave us access to the newest technology available at the time.

We we on BBS boards and chatting with folks all over the globe in the year 1992 from our apartment on Linn Street in Iowa City. My roommate was a comp-sci major. It was by no means ubiquitous, but far from some rarity.
On a related note - I remember using "hyperlinks" in one of my more cutting edge classes the following year, and remember thinking they were dumb because "no one is going to want to leave what they are reading to go down some rabbit hole" LOL.
