ELK MOUND, Wis. (WEAU/Gray News) - A man was charged with driving while drunk for the fifth time earlier this month.

Mark Prieve

According to authorities, Mark Prieve, 56, was driving the wrong way on a highway in Elk Mound, Wisconsin. He failed to respond to police lights and sirens and continued driving in the wrong lane before pulling into a parking lot.

Prieve refused to take a field sobriety test but took a breathalyzer test with a result of .329, which is four times the legal limit.

Prieve was arrested and charged with his fifth offense of operating while intoxicated. He was also charged with fleeing an officer and driving the wrong way.

He was already on probation for a previous felony operating while intoxicated offense.

Why are people with 4 drunk driving offenses even allowed to live free?

Why do we have to wait for him to end someone's life before we finally decide to do something serious about this shit?
And...with a BAC level that high...he should go straight to the penitentiary and not come out. That is essentially the same behavior as walking down a crowded street and firing a gun randomly in the crowd. It's only a matter of time before he kills/maims others...innocent others.

Those are just the times he's been caught. Dude should never drive again. At minimum he should be wearing an ankle monitor, though that alone won't prevent him from driving.
Don’t they have breathalyzers that can be installed in people’s vehicles? I remember a town drunk from years ago who had to blow into one before his car would start. He also had to blow into it after several minutes of idling.

Every vehicle registered in his name he should be required to pay for a breathalyzer to be installed. Anyone who allows that man to borrow a vehicle should be charged if caught.

I've heard drunk drivers sometimes get sober people to blow into those things for them.

At this point he simply shouldn't be free.

After his 4th, I'm surprised he could get anyone to insure him/his car at all.

In no way condoning it, but a .32 BAC for a full blown alcoholic is pretty different than for you or I.

The dude’s baseline is probably .2.

Well, yeah, I agree he needs serious jail time.

My point is that should have happened at the very least after his second offense.

Anyone enabling a drunk to drive drunk should be charged equally for vehicular homicide should that MAGAt kill someone.

Those systems require you to blow into the device while driving. You have so much time to do it or it shuts the vehicle off. Had a fellow co-worker go through it for six months.

The funny thing is the install company in IC told him not to eat Casey’s pizza before he drove due to all the yeast in their crust which will set the device off, shut down the vehicle. LoL.

Oh ya, the fermentation process. Interesting.

I get what you are saying, I actually grew up surrounded by alcoholics that fit your description above, but in this case he was driving the wrong way on the highway...so his .32 BAC seems to reveal a problem, no?

Childhood friend had 3 DUI's. On his 3rd one he drove straight through a curve and ended up in a living room at 4am. He crawled out and wobbled a block to his house. He said he woke up and the cops were in his bedroom with flashlights. They asked him where his car was and he said it was outside. They told him to put some pants on and come with them. He picked up his pants and they were covered in mud.

He ended up with a year in Prison.

Kind bars are another food item that will lock up a car.

This is like the scene from Wolf of Wall Street when he tries to drive his Lamborghini home after the Quaaludes had kicked in.
