March 13: IOWA ends up #34 in the NET Rankings with 8 Quad 1 Wins, 5 Quad 2 Wins. 2 Quad 3 LOSSES

I'll be honest, I've overly watched how NET rankings impact our profile, but after the Rutgers win, I've moved my focus to how we can earn a double bye.

Edit: That is to say, beat the Badgers, quads be damned.

Only 5 teams have 3 or fewer B1G Conference losses & Iowa is one of them. Man, we have to take care of home court, starting tomorrow.

Top 5 B1G Teams:
7-2 Illinois
7-2 Michigan State
6-3 Maryland
6-3 Rutgers
5-3 IOWA
.....................................

The Rest:
4 losses: 3 teams
5 losses: 2 teams
6 losses: 2 teams
7 losses: Debbie
8 losses: N'w

How did Rutgers only lose about 2 spots after losing to Iowa? And they are still higher. That Nebraska loss is absolutely pitiful. Iowa would prob be around #12 if that hadn't happened.

bottom line, it’s hard to win on the road and the NET methodology reflects that

I know that you indicated that your ranking weren't current, but Wisky fell to #31 and Michigan to #35, so those are both currently Quad 2 wins, while Syracuse has shot up to #64, so they're now a solid Quad 1 win.

Hopefully Wisky and Michigan can work their way back up a few spots to >30, Cincinnati can climb up to >50 (currently 57), and Nebraska and Northwestern can both get up to >135.

Hawks are having a solid season. I hope they can finish it strong for a change.

the movement between quads is crazy

last night, postgame, they were bragging about Iowa's SIX Quad 1 wins. That number, however, seems to change daily.

I find it incredibly impressive that we continue to have 12 B1G teams in the top 44 of the NET rankings.

Also, I believe we are back up to 6 quad 1 wins at quick glance. Probably inaccurate, but too busy to dig. Darn close to 8 with Michigan and Wisconsin.

This quadrant crap kind of seems like a joke to me.

Who really thinks that beating OSU today would be a better win than beating IL?

The fall off in the ACC is bizarre. For a conference with two of the bluest blue bloods plus multiple other schools with long established bball credentials it's strange to see them looking so "meh" as a conference.

its your whole body of work. compare OSU's overall resume to Illinois. What matters is who you beat and where you beat them. OSU had a lot of early impressive wins.

The problem is that they still have 2-3 contenders for the Natty, but it would probably be a bit generous to say that about the B1G. If the B1G has 10 teams who fizzle out in the NCAA's, does it really matter? In order to make any kind of national impact, the B1G MUST have a great showing in the Tourney - would be awesome to have a "Big East '85" type of showing.

should be based more on recent performance imo....
Maybe NET needs another tweek? But I think it's more fair than RPI.

i forget but I assume the Committee looks at how a team finished the season so OSU better get their act together. they had a great start, bad middle, and how will they finish?

the good news is that osu either finishes strong, or it won't really matter :).

Looking like this is shaping up to be a big weekend for Iowa's resume. If Minnesota, Michigan, Cincinnati and Wisconsin (hah, yeah right) can all win their next games, Michigan, Cincinnati and Wisconsin should all move up to Q1 wins, and Minnesota would be on the cusp of moving back to Q1. Would be a HUGE boost to our profile.

The B10 and B12 have flipped the usual scripts this year.

B12 has a couple final four contenders and then drops off soon after while the B10 has a bunch of good not great teams.

Another chance for a Quad 1 win today.

Meat grinder coming up for us. Of our last 9 games, 7 are Quad1. Good news, right? Well, only if you win. 5 of those 7 are on the road: At Purdue, at MSU, at Illinois, at Minnesota and at Indiana.

We have to find 1 win in there, somewhere and hold serve against Purdue, OSU, Nebraska and Penn St.

That would be 12-8 in the B1G. Not sure if that is a double bye in the BTT, but at least a bye.

Wow, that’s bogus. But it appears that as long as PSU stays in the top 50 it really doesn’t matter, because it’s still Quad 1 anyway?
