20-11 would be a nice record entering the B1G tournament

would that get us a top 4 seed in the BTT?
I ran a few of the scenarios using that online tool and it seems like we have to go 5-1 to grab a top 4 seed. There could be some exceptions, but 4-2 seemed to get us in a log jam. Again, I ran a handful of scenarios, certainly not all.

If it plays out as predicted, we would meet Indiana in the Quarters, Purdue in the Semis….yuck

Back on the bubble. We are on the right side as of now but we could be sweating soon.
We are not on the bubble. Maybe after Wednesday night, but not now.

Had we lost a close game at the buzzer last night no one would be nearly as upset. It was a game that most expected us to lose. Tough to win on the road n this conference.

Putting aside last night’s horrendous performance from beyond the arc, I think we should expect to bounce back Wednesday and hit our shots …maybe come out with a close win.

Regardless, win our two remaining home games and we’re comfortably in the Dance.

As of this morning:

* we are a solid #7 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

* Wisconsin, in at least 2 brackets, is the last team in the NCAA Tournament. The game on Wednesday is huge for their NCAA Tournament hopes.

The fact that we lost by 20 hurts our overall metrics and places us in the bubble. Still the right side but that was not good.

Wisconsin is still in most bracketolgists field this morning and all of their metrics are in the 70s. The bubble is awful this year (it is every year, but this year especially). There isn't a bubble team with more than 5 Q1 wins at the moment and that's likely not going to change. Iowa staying at that 6 or 7 Q1 win mark will keep them in fairly safely barring a total collapse.

The remaining games matter a lot but only for seeding. IMO the only way Iowa misses the tourney is if if they lose all of their remaining games.

Beating only nebraska and losing 1st game of BTT? No way you can say right now that we would still be in. Way too much yet to be determined to say something like that.

Again, look at bracket matrix and some of these bubble teams. Texas Tech is one of the first teams out. West Virginia and Oklahoma State are in. Wisconsin is one of the last teams in, and they are a Q3 loss for you guys right now. I think Iowa at 18-13 with 6 or 7 Q1 wins gets in, I really do.

A reminder that our own NET is not something to care about--the NET of our opponents is what matters.

A reminder that that is mostly nonsense, and Seth Davis said a whole lotta nothin in that tweet.

Fran can post the bracketology nitwits everyday but a team with an overall NET rating of 42 or lower will never be “a solid 7 seed.” The committee might move you up or down a line. Never 3 or 4.

Maybe. It totally depends on what happens over the next two weeks. There’s going to be a lot of movement. Always is.

You clearly don't understand what you're talking about. The committee literally just told us this weekend the NET does not matter. Where was #7 NET Saint Mary's in the top 16 reveal? Where was #8 UCONN?
Last year Houston was top 10 in the NET and was a 5 seed. It literally is not something to worry about--the NET rankings give us the quadrants as a sorting tool. It literally says that's it's use on the NCAA website.

Factually incorrect.

LAST YEAR:
Wisconsin was #25 in the NET and was the #9 overall seed.
Providence was #24 in the NET and was the #15 overall seed.
USC was # 40 in the NET and was the #25 seed.

It happens all of the time. There are more examples I just stopped at 3.

It's very likely we're in - we'd have to lose 3 out of 4 remaining (including the BTT) games - although that's possible IMO. I don't have a lot of confidence in this team right now.

The downside is that will be enough for Fran to keep his job - again. I'm so tired of the mediocrity.

Iowa's record is so odd. We have a number of impressive wins coupled with a handful of embarrassing losses. We need to get this turned around quickly I'm afraid. Can we beat a rampaging Spartan team? How about a rapidly improving Nebraska team that we've already lost to? Can we maintain success in the BTT, where we've annually sucked until last year? I think we can still play ourselves into the NIT.

Great stuff Fran.

The B1G beats up on each other so hardly anyone is left in Q1.

How does all this translate into projected seeding?
