Going to love watching Luka the next couple years. That dude leaves it all out on the floor and is a great player. Same with Baer....you gotta love players like that
I’ve seriously choked up a few times today. I’m not sure why this one is hitting me so hard. I would imagine it was the roller coaster aspect of the game. Or maybe I’m just turning into an old softie.
Take that emotion Luka and Jbo....and get revenge next year. That's actually what TN did this year
Roller coaster ride the past few days. March Madness
This one stings. Baer has been one of my favorite Hawkeyes since the 2015-16 season. He was playing with a bunch of upperclassman but was still able to find a way to contribute and provide energy every chance he got. I believe he was our best player in that 2nd round loss to Villanova that year. He played with intensity and heart every game. We will miss you Baer!!!
If everyone strives to raise their kids like Baer, the world would be a better place.
Baer had the determination, heart, effort and guts of Michael Jordan. The only thing he didn't have was the same God given talent.

Awesome comments from JBo and Luka. Plenty of tears here when that OT ended. What a comeback. What great heart. What great gentlemen. Win or lose, the Hawkeye players should make us all proud to be Hawkeye fans. And not a lot of programs can honestly say that.
Only one team leaves the NCAA tournament happy!
I'll never forget the Nova game a couple years ago... the rest of the team had mailed it in but Baer was running around all over the court playing like there was no tomorrow. (Which there wasn't after that game I suppose)
No question Nic was the emotional leader of this team and he will be sorely missed next year. I wonder who will fill that void next year? I wish Nic all the best and thank him and praise him for his many contributions to the Iowa basketball program.
I have followed Iowa basketball since the mid-to-late 70s. The rest of my life when I hear the name Nicholas Baer, I am going to smile and think about his uncanny ability to change a game. I can't imagine we're going to see the likes of him again. Because of that, and all he represents, he has to be my favorite Hawkeye ever. Way to go Nicholas, thank you!!
