*****Mark Gronowski COMMITS to IOWA*****

I believe that ship has sailed, but what this commitment does do is make the staff’s pitch to any available receiver in the portal more enticing.

should make the sales pitch to skill players easier, that's for sure.

Iowa has been linked to former Chattanooga wide receiver Sam Phillips. The 5-foot-9, 185 pound receiver visited Iowa and is choosing between the Hawkeyes, Virginia Tech and Memphis.

If we don't land Phillips, then maybe there are other skill position options that will now become available...

Yep, spring portal may yield results too but IMO we have talent at WR on roster, but not proven and not enough...

The spring period could be huge, which is more what I was thinking.

Mechanics, pocket awareness, footwork, leadership, guts, proven winner...check 'em all MG! Haven't seen glimpses of this QB skillset since CJB. Look at the ball placement too and I realize it is FCS D but still...tape don't lie and he's a much diff QB than Stanley..pure RPO which Lester will love.
Some of those highlights are against top FCS teams which are as good as a lot of teams on our schedule.

What do you think about our TE and WR rooms? I am probably missing someone....

Wide Receivers
Kaden Wetjen
Jacob Gill
Seth Anderson
Reece Vander Zee
KJ Parker
Jarriett Buie
Dayton Howard

Tight Ends
Addison Ostrenga
Zach Ortwerth
Michael Burt
Gavin Hoffman

QB room looking full and healthy . Now do we have some QB’s leaving or de-committing now? This spring should be interesting competition for the starting job .
I have to think that Shaggy will be moving on in the spring. In his short service at Iowa, I think he has proven himself a serviceable P4 QB. I don’t picture him sitting around for another year as our QB4, especially without a scholarship. He’d have a really good shot at QB1/2 in the American athletic conference or even a lower tier P4 program.

I picture MG as the starter with BS getting some playing time situationally in every game, with HB picking up some garbage time in early audition for ‘26.

Mota and incoming freshman stud Smith from IL. I like the room and hopefully Phillips joins us too.

Boy do I miss the days of our QB room being filled with the likes of Petras, Padilla, Deuce, May, Labas & Deacon.

Better ball placement than like all of Cade’s highlights vs Illinois St (also an FCS school)

I'm super intrigued about the possibilities of both Gronowski's potential and Lester as his coach, hopefully they can snag a nice fish for both the WR and OL rooms, too .........

but I will stay firmly in 'wait and see' mode until September.

KF is still the head coach, so a few things won't change in that respect.

And all of the heat is now off KF's ass as the apologists are now infatuated with the FCS wonder from Brookings! Saaaaaaaaaluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute! lol

Agreed. Keep them healthy and with a whole new QB room and another offseason learning the offense, I’m cautiously optimistic. But still worried about the OL

We return 3 starters on the OL, correct?

Logan Jones at Center
Gennings Dunker at Tackle
Beau Stephens at Guard

It will be interesting to see who the final 2 offensive line pieces are....

I really thought Joe Labas was gonna be good. Why I say that: Ken O'Keefe recruited him. Ken asked Ricky Stanzi his thoughts on him and Ricky thought Joe was gonna be a good one.

There were a lot of rumors that Joe liked doing other things other than getting better....
