Marsette.....

This, exactly.

We have a lot of young guys contributing. Confidence can be the sole difference between marginal and exceptional. Inconsistencies and errors are part of the growing pains. It also does not help to have a staff that can be ruthless with their comments and dog house mentality

The young man clearly sees himself as the heir to the gone but not forgotten Jerminic Smith.

The funny thing is if he sat people would bitch about that and if the coaches keep playing him people are bitching about that........long story short, people are going to bitch no matter

Case in point- Wadley fumbled all the time early in his career- people bitched he didn't play enough. Now we have a WR with the case of the drops- coaches decide to let him play through it=people are bitching

Say what You want about Iowa's skill players ( I am being kind giving that label to them) the most damning fact is that the guy on the team with the best hands plays defense and its not even close , I would've put a few plays that got JJ on the other side of the ball each game , but that's far too sexy.

Josh Jackson has caught as many touchdown catches than all of the receivers except Easley. Jackson TD total is 20% of all touchdown catches not made by TEs or RBs... and Stanley is on the verge of breaking the all-time season TD record...

Something is not right here.

You know who has the best hands on the team? And how did you come about this knowledge?

You're as annoying as it gets. Give it a rest.
Why don't the losers that make over-dramatic, hyperbolic, idiotic statements give it a rest. It's offensive (and annoying) to any intelligent person's sensibilities. Besides, it's fun calling out these losers. Their comments are....what's that word that so many of them are fond of....'mediocre'.

I bet 9 out of 10 people on here doesn't understand route adjustments based on coverage, I bet over half doesn't even know what technique the D line is playing on every given snap, I bet most on here doesn't really know shit about football other than what the player with ball is doing.....so lets not be calling people stupid are idiots on here because it is a lot of pots calling kettles black on here.

What part needs explaining?

I believe younger players don’t play (yet) with the confidence and swagger they did in high school. Confidence Makes all the difference to their current successes

Second, It’s common knowledge ( at Iowa) that when young players fumble, etc, they may not see the field again. Just watched a nice BTN piece on Akrum who explained exactly that. Kids get in the coaches doghouse. There’s a lot less encouraging from coaches, and a lot more berating when kids miss assignments, etc. Such negatives make it harder for younger players to find their rhythm.

So uncommon at any level to not be thrilled with players who make mistakes.....wtf are you even talking about??!?!?!!

There are certain people on this site whom have a big opinion of themselves. I find it kinda sad. One day I would hope that people on this site could actually have an argument with facts, rather than just chest thumping and jr. high level name calling.

from watching the games sizzlechest
EVERY player on the team catches passes during a game??? And they air this? We must be watching different games than you. It's amazing to most of us that some of you don't even seem to realize how farcical your claims/statements are.

I'm sorry but this is extremely misleading. Jackson did not catch TD passes per se, he intercepted a pass intended for an opponent and returned it for a TD. Big difference. A receiver faces coverage, sometimes double coverage; a cornerback intercepting am opponent's pass does not face any coverage. Instead, they are sometimes presented with an open field return opportunity - which is what happened with Jackson's two pick 6s IIRC, he picked off the passes and ran down the sideline untouched for a TD. I'm not trying to downplay Jackson's INT return TDs just saying they are not "TD catches" as that term is used and understood. The comparison fails.

Also, in making your erroneous "TD catches" argument, you omitted Iowa receivers Noah Fant and TJ Hockenson - two Iowa receivers with 8 TD and 3 TDs, respectively.

ISM will be all right, keep getting stronger and better young fella! Nick, Noah and Hock (Hock with the red shirt) all have at least a year of college football under thier belts.

The Meerkat has clearly lost speed; undoubtedly due to the injuries. Easley could be decent if he had a good X man to draw defensive attention.

ISM will improve I think. Almost all of his drops come from looking down field before catching the ball. That can be taught, at least in some guys. Coming into this season Meerkat was the only player that had ever caught a D1 pass, and Easley was the only other guy that had caught a non HS ball. You gotta think the group will get better through experience and maturity.

But right now, the receivers are not very good.

It fails because you're a literal sumbitch. Thanks for letting me know the difference between an INT return and a TD catch - really insightful and valuable stuff. I told you that I omitted TEs because TEs do not play the WR position. You typing that shows me you lack reading comprehension and entirely missed the point.

With all these kids who want immediate playing time i can't believe we can't snag some star receivers! Hell Kansas is cleaning up on them

Well excuse me, then why did you try to equate the two? You stated that "Josh Jackson has as many touchdown catches than all receivers except Easley" It was a patently absurd comparison. I only pointed that out.

If it was an attempt at comedy, I failed to detect it - that's on me. If it was an attempt to make a serious point, it failed miserably - that's on you.

Ashamed i root for the same team and come from the same state as Muskie. Epic douche and idiot to say people have nothing invested. How do you think these facilities are being built? I guess our time is just more valuable than his. What a moron.
