Saw that he tweeted he was done with wrestling. It will be interesting to see if another coach can convince him to wrestle 174 somewhere else.

Obviously the totality of things has gotten to him, at least at this point. Feel for the kid, even if he is "one of them.....". ;)Too bad.

Sad to see. I can understand being burned out. Hopefully someone can get him back in the room.

Sorry to hear this. He was quite a promising competitor fresh out of high school. I hope after a little time off, he decides to give it another go. It would be very interesting to see him back in action at a smaller school or in another division - could be a good fit for him...

He got suspended the previous day for breaking team rules and saw Smith getting his red-shirt pulled and knew it was over.

Cutting too much weight and not seeing any benefits will do that to you. If I were him, I would take some time off and not even look at a wrestling mat for a few months. Too bad...if Chance didn't gas, he would be tough to beat.

Looks like Jojo is a go for the WV dual.

I hope marstellers tweet was a knee jerk reaction to being suspended and hopefully he can transfer somewhere.

It's easy to forget from our armchairs how brutal the sport can be -- the physical and mental demands on a 20 year old kid can be enormous. Hope he regroups and gives it a try, if not at OSU, then somewhere else at a weight class that he can reasonably manage.

Very much agree. ^^ Realizing how tough and demanding this sport is, particularly at the D1 level, is the primary reason that I do not get into, or appreciate, the "bash posts" on really any wrestler, Hawk or not.

I have great respect for these young men as competitors and I hope Mr. Marstellar can regroup and choose a path that he will be happy with over the long haul.

I thought little marsden was new 97, article that gobblin linked said boyd and chandler were.

It's tough for a kid who isn't used to losing then all of a sudden he sees he is not invincible.

I think it will be Marsden, think the writer of article was more interested in the drama and not up to date on who has been wrestling where. I could be wrong though.

He'll be back. He's going to have to dig deep and weather the storm that he has found himself in.

Really an unfortunate situation. Hope he takes some time off, finds his love of wrestling again and gets back on the mat. If not, wish him the best. Shame to see burnout in such talents.

pumpdog20,

I am pretty sure he de-committed after PSU recruited Nickal..............
My memory is he de-committed well before Nickal arrived. It was a bit cryptic but I think it was something like he decided to tell Cael what weight he'd wrestle at, and that was the end of that.

Just spoke with a wrestling colleague from Stillwater and he confirmed that Marstellar has been suspended for the rest pf the year for a combination of things that have transpired within the last month. My source also conveyed that he didn't think Marstellar would be back for the Cowboys.
