Marstellar done

Just spoke with a wrestling colleague from Stillwater and he confirmed that Marstellar has been suspended for the rest pf the year for a combination of things that have transpired within the last month. My source also conveyed that he didn't think Marstellar would be back for the Cowboys.

Your colleague wouldn't happen to have an Italian sounding name, eats a crapload of venison pasta?

Is your colleague the guy who writes for this Stillwater news company? Because the suspension part is confirmed.

Does your colleague bring children colorful eggs and jellybeans on a certain Sunday following the Pascal Full Moon (usually in March / April) every year, has been known to do the flying clothesline off of the turnbuckle, and may/may not be cutting down to 141 for the Hawkeyes?

I'm sure he's just very frustrated with the whole 157 situation. He has worked really hard to keep his weight down and be the best wrestler he can be to help OSU and John Smith be champions. Now his coaches true freshmen son is taking his spot. I'm sure he's alittle pissed. He will get over it, stay at OSU and be there started next year at 165. Probably be an AA threat if not better. This is a learning and growing experience for him. Keep ur head up Chance. Things are nowhere near rock bottom. Go Hawks!

I think OSU wants to move on from Chance and free up his scholarship money. They have no reason to mend fences or try to get him back on the team. I think Chance was a manchild in high school and physically dominated his opposition. I just don't think his heart is in the sport now. Its a shame to see such talent flame out, but he surely won't be the last.

I am guessing this frees up a bunch of scholarship money for OSU.
I don't think any of the big boys schools worry too much about scholarship money. They can get around this one way or another. Look at Penn St...Seven or Eight number one or two ranked wrestlers in each weight. They all can't be getting full rides up front. Oh, this ones dad is rich, his uncle is paying his way or his dad is now an assistant coach for five years....Smile

I think he is more pissed at himself for getting in trouble which got him suspended from the team (Joe had nothing to do with it). I hope Chance well, gets is life in order and get back to wrestling like the old Chance Marsteller use to do, just won't happen this season.

Met his parents at the Grapple. Nice family, hope he gets himself figured out, with wrestling or not.

Trust me--he has been suspended for the remainder of the season!!!

John Smith literally told a news company in Stillwater that Chance is done for the year.

Just pointing out that it's literally been reported that he's done. Seems odd that you are trying to come off as an insider in this situation when there is a credible source reporting this fact.

Maybe you know more, but the suspension for the season is already out there and acknowledged by the head coach.

John seems to be an upstanding coach, but it is strange that Chance is done for the year and yet Klimera gets a slap on the wrist for doing something seemingly much worse. Difference between a starter expected to AA vs. a nonstarter using up a lot of scholly money?

Of course, I do not know the full story.

Wasn't Kindig "kicked off" the team for about 15 minutes about 4 years ago and reinstated about 2 weeks before nationals?

Yes. Quite fishy.

COLUMBIA, Mo. — The No. 1-ranked Oklahoma State wrestling team defeated 13th-ranked Missouri 22-12 at the Hearnes Center on Saturday.
The teams went back and forth for the first seven bouts. The Tigers (11-3, 2-2 Big 12) picked up close decisions at 157, 165, 197, and 125 pounds while OSU's Chris Perry, Chris McNeil and Alan Gelogaev won decisions at 174, 184, and heavyweight.
The final three bouts sealed the Cowboys' win, with OSU's Jordan Oliver (133) and Jamal Parks (149) earning bonus-point wins, and Julian Feikert (141) picking up a win in his first dual bout.
Feikert was wrestling in place of Josh Kindig, who is ranked No. 12 at 141 pounds.

According to InterMat.com, Kindig has been suspended, and OSU coach John Smith says he does not know if he'll wrestle the rest of the season.

Kindig wrestled in the 2012 national.

Klimara was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He passed a drug test the very next day and has had no trouble since. Bad comparison to make if you don't know any facts about what happened in my opinion.

The very reason why I don't question the coach's call. We don't (at least I don't) know the specifics of the situations or any other infractions (or lack of) by either kid before discipline was handed down. Besides the season's not over, so can't totally rule out Marstellar working his way back on to the team. It's not like he was permanently suspended.

I said I didn't know the full story. Said I thought John was an upstanding guy.

From what I read Klimara reportedly was drunk and in possession of cocaine while the NCAAs were still going on (yes, I know he had been eliminated at that time).

ocolly.com/sports/article_6b7cf48c-b3a3-11e3-9abc-0017a43b2370.html …,

Heard later that it wasn't as bad as it sounded, but don't ever recall hearing any details.
The story makes it sound like the drunkenness and possession were definitive.

In comparison, drinking and marijuana (if true) didn't seem that bad to miss the rest of the year.

Sorry if my original post was more accusatory than I meant. My main gist is that it struck me as strange.

Don't worry guys you'll get your 10,000 that I just invested for you.

Soon as they announce our winning Powerball numbers. Are we lucky or what?

pumpdog20,

I am pretty sure he de-committed after PSU recruited Nickal..............
Google says you're right. Marsteller decommitted 3 months after Nickal's announcement. The sequence:
- 7/2/2013: Nevills committed.
- 7/4: Marsteller committed.
- 7/18: Nolf committed.
- 7/31: Nickal announced his commitment.
- 11/6: Marsteller decommitted.
- 3/1/2014: Rasheed committed.
- 4/15: Cassar committed.
