Maryland vs. Michigan

I strongly suspect Turgeon's comment is in reference to Howard's current recruiting, not the Fab 5 or any other previous violations.

his comment was about the Fab Five banners coming down, no more or less than that. It’s the best trash he could come up with.

In interview... Turgeon just denied the banner comments and said "something" has been occurring the last 2 games. And that he was not going to take it the 3rd game.

I guess the BIG office knows but he didn't give specifics. Wonder what it was

In the post game, Turgeon said he had complaints into the league and the commissioner. Something happen between the teams in their previous meetings? He essentially said he filed something against michigan about previous meetings and told them he wasn't going to have it in the 3rd game. Said he's going to stand up for his guys...

Maybe they'll meet in the NCAAs..... the gloves bout' to come off! Haha

Maryland has to sneak into the tourney tho

ESPN has them solidly in with the win against MSU, IMO it'd be a shame to let them in over a team like Drake, but that's just me.
Drake’s in. Especially with Duke, maybe UVA and now Kansas not being able to play. Although with blue bloods not able to play they may just push it back a couple weeks.

I think Howard is going to be the most hated coach in the league. Leaving his starters in against Iowa was poor taste and just the start of a hated relationship with Iowa.
Didn’t him and fran get in a little shouting match that game as well? I used to think Juwan was a pretty stand up guy, but just from the little ive seen of their games he isn’t exactly portraying that...

How about maybe just play the game and less yammering about it. I'd love to see a league wide crackdown.
Whatever went on between um and maryland sounds like it should have been dealt with already if this is a boil over from the first two games. I get that everything is out of whack with Covid. But players and coaches should have standards of conduct that they have to abide by and if they fail to meet them they should be fined and/or suspended and called out by the league office for it.

I don't know what, but there is more going on than what Howard talked about. Not sure what Turgeon is filing complaints about. I don't think UM is a dirty team on the court, so it seems like it must be something off the court.

Let's see.....FAB 5 - dirty recruiting = probation

Member of Fab 5 now coaching - Gee, I wonder if dirty recruiting might be happening.

Dickenson played dirty today.

Does anybody know what Turgeon is referring to on "what transpired in the first two games"?

If I were to guess, Howard either likes talking to the opponent's players, coaches, or both. Fran was incensed in the game at Michigan, had to be held back while he was yelling at the Michigan bench. It appeared that he was upset about Howard talking to the Iowa players, but that's just from watching the game. No impartial observer is likely to take Fran's side as he's been known to blow up, but usually only at refs or his own players (aside from Steve Prohm 2 years ago or Illinois last year).

Prior to that game, Howard and Holtman from Ohio State got into it as well at half court. I'm sure some of it is coaches don't like a brand-new guy coming in with the immediate success Howard has had, along with the huge recruiting class he has coming in next year.

But all speculation on my part.

Thanks, I just read another post from another message board saying the same thing - Howard likes to talk (some trash presumably) to opposing players & coaches.

“34 years of doing it the right way” is the key take away for me. Juwan thinks being part of the Fab 5 buys him street cred in the B1G.

I think Juwan thinks having had a long successful NBA career and a successful stint as one of the most highly regarded assistant coaches in the NBA buys him street cred in the Big Ten.

Turgeon is just butt hurt that Juwan owns him on the court.

there has been literally no mention of that by any opposing player or coach this season, would be shocked if it were true. Howard is friends with almost everybody and knows most of the players on opposing teams from all the time he spent tagging along with his kids to AAU tournaments.

There are some things that warrant a confrontation. So far I haven't heard anything in this situation that rises to that level. Making a wise-ass remark about banners hanging in an arena definitely does not make the grade, if that is what this is about.

Need to institute a seat belt....coach stands up....BAM TECHNICAL FOUL

He was part of one of the most infamous pay-for-play scandals in the history of college basketball. Should anyone really be surprised that he’s a giant douche?

FIFY
Sorry, I thought everyone knew Fab 5 was synonymous with pay-for-play scandal.
