There’s part of me that wants Maryland to win and a part of me that doesn’t. Really can’t stand Freese but getting SC out at any point is a bigger deal.

Yeah, our odds of winning the national championship go up if Maryland knocks out South Carolina, and that's what matters more than anything.
But there is a part of me that would prefer South Carolina. A fourth game against Maryland, and on the wrong side of this seesaw thing we seem to be doing with them, isn't very appealing; a chance to knock off the undefeated unequivocal favorite, on the other hand, is -- although I would have greatly preferred it happening in the championship game.

I'd be interested in hearing people's thoughts on anyone who watched the SC - UCLA game where the former only scored 59 points. That strikes me as a team that can be beat.
What did UCLA do? Pack the lane and hope SC was missing from deep? Fall back on defense to take away fast break opportunities? Really tough perimeter defense?

Agreed, kinda that old adage, if you want to be the best, you gotta beat the best - but everyone would like the Hawks chances more with the Terps.
Would be unreal to knock off the undefeated, consensus #1 team on the way to a natty though.
If we are on from 3 we can ABSOLUTELY hang with them.
They also block 20% of all 2pt shots. It does help they aren’t great shooters but they rebound 50% of all misses so even bad shooters become great with enough shots.
The key is defensive rebounds and Boston is a monster.
I'm a big Maryland and OSU fan starting right now. If SC is going to win the natty again this year, I want to see them have to go through three straight B1G teams to do it.

I'm not sure I'm buying that SC is inevitable this year. 59 points in the marquee tourney in the Sweet 16 doesn't strike me as inevitable. We stand a reasonable chance.

Clark was amazing last night, but she’ll need to take better care of the ball, or score 50, if we are going to beat SC.
Georgetown was inevitable against Villanova in 1985 also. Danny and the miracles took Kansas to a championship when they were given virtually no chance. With some breaks, no team is unbeatable.
I don't think Maryland has any shot at winning this game. Iowa is the only team that has any shot at taking down SC and even that will take a minor miracle.
Iowa was the top #2, so they were paired in the bracket with the worst #1 Stanford.
The #1 overall South Carolina is slotted to match up with the weakest #1 in the Final Four.
Then it just goes back to it being a crime Iowa wasn't the third 1 seed.
I honestly think Maryland has a decent chance tonight. Staley is a helluva coach, I'd say she's passed Geno right now as the best coach in the game. She's demanding but her players play incredibly hard for her. She was a great player in her day as well. However, I think Maryland has the athletes inside and out to hang w/South Carolina. Like another poster said South Carolina is relentless on the boards and on defense. While yes they only scored 59 UCLA who is a pretty good offensive team only scored 43. It's hard to speed SC up, which I think would be our best chance obviously. There is nobody in the country in transition like Caitlin. But very worried how we would do rebounding the ball against them. However, we're in the Final 4! Going to just enjoy watching our girls play, they're playing so carefree right now.

We're really still complaining about our draw when we JUST MADE THE FINAL FOUR? It worked out perfectly that we got the weakest 1-seed (Stanford) and weakest 3-seed (Duke) in our regional. If they hadn't both lost in the round of 32, we would have had a much much harder time doing what we just did.
Bring on South Carolina. If you want to be the best, you've got to beat the best.
If somebody’s going to beat South Carolina, I want it to be Iowa Hawkeyes not the Maryland team.
