Feuerbach, Olsen, Affolter, Stuelke and company all did their jobs beautifully, but maybe the biggest plays last night came from Taylor McCabe and Ava Heiden. Taylor hit some HUGE threes, played her usual steady defense, handled the ball well, and generally played her standard quiet but effective game. She slips under the radar most of the time, so I wanted to make sure she got some credit for a stellar clutch performance last night. Iowa doesn't win without her.
And what can you say about another stoic, the big, athletic freshman center? Ava came into a tough spot and played like a veteran. She's big, tough, and quick with a great motor, which is why I wish Jan would've given her a shot against Betts and UCLA. (Next time, right?) Anyway, without Ava's great performance last night, Iowa doesn't win either.
So congrats to two great Hawkeyes who continued this team's tradition of having different players step up when they're needed most.
