Well said, I believe I've mentioned Perry a few times as well. I also said we'd come in 3/4. But that's alright we competed with 80%. Next year we'll have a very solid core and some fresh bodies. PSU is losing a couple of finalists so maybe we can close the gap. Now of course Az Chief will find a reason to jump on a resident of Realville; maybe when I move back to Scottsdale next year I could buy him lunch at the club?

PSU fan. I don't understand the anger with Brooks. Kid wrestles hard and he pushed the whole match against Dudley. Even the first TD was a Dudley counter. He got caught in a big move which Dudley also uses to win the semi. Sure Brooks may have gotten down on himself on the back side and he can learn from that. But he wrestled very well until the hiccup against Dudley. You wrestle the same match and he wins 8 out of 10 IMO. He just got caught but he absolutely controlled the center of the circle.
He got majored by Walters at Midlands so this was a huge improvement and was very close to winning this one.
My frustration with Brooks is based on the entire season. He may have been bothered by a injury against NCSt, but he's inconsistent as hell.
Because some people always have to have something to bitch about.
Maybe they do Wrestle differently Mav, but I think the mindset in approach is the same.
Bottom line is, by no means, what we have broken, it just needs tweaking .

Coaches are crazy. But I do think a different perspective is important.
There is no denying that this generation of kids think differently and I really think it would help us with recruiting to get a different perspective in the room.
In my opinion there is no doubt that those 10 guys wrestled their butts off for us.
The problem for us came when talent and hard work hit the crossroads.
fair points and well said. i think the part in bold explains why people are down on him. people wanted to see him learn from the loss to dudley and fight back on the back side. he has the ability to finish third but came up well short.
Easier said than done. I'm sure Brooks was crushed after his loss, and it's very easy for us couch potatoes to get down on Brooks for not bringing it this morning. I'm not down on Brooks at all, since he's the one laying it on the line, not me.
The 2 seed just finished 8th, losing 3 of his last 4 matches. I'd say there's plenty to be disappointed about and I'm sure Sammy would agree.

I think both Meyer and Brooks are not the weak links here. Sure they didn't finish great but they will surely be better next year. We need to fill the holes with guys that will AA and stay healthy.

I think the Brooks and Meyer results are frustrating because they do things that are so spectacular and then some things that are so dumb. Honestly I hope it is weight issues and they will be like Garrett next year up a weight class.
I would pay money to watch while some bone head walked up to him and told him he was big disappointment.
These kids put the team colors on step out to compete for their school and they bust their humps getting ready to do so.
I know some of you think it is a birthright for Iowa wrestlers to dominate, but my God you all spend a shit load of time bitching about a bunch of college kids you supposedly support.

anybody who has ever competed in anything understands that it's easier said than done. i think that goes without saying, but good of you to say it anyway. for the record, i wouldn't say i'm down on him either. i just believe that he's capable of beating anyone at his weight class (with the possible exception of Dean) and, therefore, thought he would do better than he did.
if you think some Iowa fans' expectations of Brooks are too high, i'll just say that i bet his expectations of himself are even higher. i highly doubt anybody undertakes the challenge of being an iowa wrestler and works that hard for that long with the expectation of coming in 2nd (or 8th, in this case).
i think some peoples' nerves are a little raw due to another PSU championship and it's making some people overly sensitive. i think we all still want the same thing.
