If Nikola Jokic can become first-team all NBA with a frame and athletic profile that doesn't fit what people expect from successful NBA players in 2019, then Megan Gustafson has the ability to eventually stick with a WNBA team while facing some of the same perceived limitations. Better?
Jokic is 7'0". If Megan was 6'7" that comparison might make sense.
If Megan comes back next spring from overseas with a game proven mid-range game to go along with her low post moves some WNBA team will sign her to a training camp contract. With a work ethic like hers she won't give up.

I looked over the articles and supplied them so as to show a different side to what Wiggins was proclaiming. I merely posed a question and offered an alternate reason why she could have been cut. The Guardian offered refutation to Candace's accusations; however, the NY Post article and a similar one from the Guardian did not offer a refute to the accusations. I personally do not watch women's basketball- whether it is the NCAA or WNBA. Don't get me wrong, what Megan accomplished this year, in an Iowa uniform, was outstanding and brought much positive attention to the University of Iowa. We were lucky that Megan was a Lady Hawkeye.

While I'm sure that's true to some extent I take that all with a grain of salt... By that ridiculous math that would mean there are literally 2 other straight women in the entire league besides herself. Maybe other players just didn't like her?
WNBA is a small league (in terms of number of teams). So making a roster is difficult. Doesn't lessen anything for her college career, but people that think there is some grand conspiracy to not have her in the WNBA are not seeing reality. The people running the WNBA teams are paid to be as good as possible. It's possible that all of them are wrong in terms of her ability to help an WNBA team, but that is doubtful.

If an MVP award existed, she definitely would be number one. No team relied on one player more. On most other teams, she wouldn’t have been relied on as much, wouldn’t have had the same stats, and wouldn’t have received the same recognition. She was a lot of fun to watch.

Can you imagine her average points per game in six on six? I believe a couple Iowa girls scored over 100 points in a game, and she might have had multiple ones. Thank goodness though for five on five.
some team or teams should take a hard look at their product in terms of what they project. A player like Megan with her personality is exactly what is needed to generate some interest in a team. As it is now it is a who cares league so to keep it alive you need a little something to get you interested.
Sorry, but teams don't keep players "just to generate interest in a team." They keep players who can help them win. The Dallas Wings fanbase by and large doesn't know who she is and just keeping her on the roster won't help them win games if they believe there are better players.
The WNBA will likely never have anywhere near the interest of the NBA, as the NBA literally has the best players in the world playing the game (men or women). People tend to want to play more and attend games where the very best players are playing. But within the WNBA, each team is trying to win the most games possible.
