I doubt Doug McDermott would have stuck on NBA roster if there were only 12 teams in league.
He was POY Also.

She is not versatile enough to play in the WNBA imo.....great college playerBecause it is, you don't think she can play in the wnba? I think she can.
wutIf Jokic can become first team all NBA she can make a team
If Nikola Jokic can become first-team all NBA with a frame and athletic profile that doesn't fit what people expect from successful NBA players in 2019, then Megan Gustafson has the ability to eventually stick with a WNBA team while facing some of the same perceived limitations. Better?
S+1 just like the Heisman winner isn't always the best college player and certainly isn't always the best pro prospect.

I looked over the articles and supplied them so as to show a different side to what Wiggins was proclaiming. I merely posed a question and offered an alternate reason why she could have been cut. The Guardian offered refutation to Candace's accusations; however, the NY Post article and a similar one from the Guardian did not offer a refute to the accusations. I personally do not watch women's basketball- whether it is the NCAA or WNBA. Don't get me wrong, what Megan accomplished this year, in an Iowa uniform, was outstanding and brought much positive attention to the University of Iowa. We were lucky that Megan was a Lady Hawkeye.Lol. Your reading comprehension isn't so good. Candice is an outlier. She's a bit nutty. Trust me on this. I work for the league. And your own linked articles make it pretty clear she's full of shit. Maybe read them more carefully?
No. I'm not getting paid to.Have you ever watched the WNBA?
No. The limitations aren't perceived. They are actual. Have you seen Jokic play? He's amazing. If Nikola Jokic can become first-team all NBA with a frame and athletic profile that doesn't fit what people expect from successful NBA players in 2019, then Megan Gustafson has the ability to eventually stick with a WNBA team while facing some of the same perceived limitations. While I'm sure that's true to some extent I take that all with a grain of salt... By that ridiculous math that would mean there are literally 2 other straight women in the entire league besides herself. Maybe other players just didn't like her?The Russians are big into women's basketball. In fact, a couple of years ago the several of the WNBA star's contracts were bought up and the stars skipped the WNBA season to stay in Russia.
Is Megan a lesbian? From what I have read, the WNBA is like 98% lesbian and those that are not lesbians find it tough on the court and the locker room.

Great college players can't always play at the highest professional level. Happens with the men all the time. I'm sure she could stick with the right team but the right team has to want her.
College doesn't equate to professional. As I recall, plenty of people and awards seemed to think she was the best college player in America last year.
This may be one of the dumbest things I have ever read on this board, which is saying something. If Jokic can become first team all NBA she can make a team
If an MVP award existed, she definitely would be number one. No team relied on one player more. On most other teams, she wouldn’t have been relied on as much, wouldn’t have had the same stats, and wouldn’t have received the same recognition. She was a lot of fun to watch.College doesn't equate to professional. As I recall, plenty of people and awards seemed to think she was the best college player in America last year.
Or did they think she had the best season?
No doubt but an award as POTY, of which she won a few?, is irrelevant when you turn pro.If an MVP award existed, she definitely would be number one. No team relied on one player more. Yes, and those who do knew right away that Megan did not stand a reasonable chance of ever contributing in that league. I'll leave the reasons why alone, since it'd start a verbal war lol.does anybody?
From The Gazette:
Gustafson announced on April 24 — the night Iowa revealed it would retire her No. 10 jersey — that she will likely play for a team in Budapest, Hungary, next winter but had yet to sign a contract.
some team or teams should take a hard look at their product in terms of what they project. A player like Megan with her personality is exactly what is needed to generate some interest in a team. As it is now it is a who cares league so to keep it alive you need a little something to get you interested.WNBA is a small league (in terms of number of teams). So making a roster is difficult. Doesn't lessen anything for her college career, but people that think there is some grand conspiracy to not have her in the WNBA are not seeing reality. The people running the WNBA teams are paid to be as good as possible. It's possible that all of them are wrong in terms of her ability to help an WNBA team, but that is doubtful.

you are right. Probably why they have as much interest as an 8th grade girls basketball team. I don't know that Dallas was a good fit but a team in the midwest might want to take a flyer. Either way all I am saying is that league has no interest so trying to garner some would surely help it out.Sorry, but teams don't keep players "just to generate interest in a team." They keep players who can help them win. The Dallas Wings fanbase by and large doesn't know who she is and just keeping her on the roster won't help them win games if they believe there are better players.
The WNBA will likely never have anywhere near the interest of the NBA, as the NBA literally has the best players in the world playing the game (men or women). People tend to want to play more and attend games where the very best players are playing. But within the WNBA, each team is trying to win the most games possible.

ya your right like you know every thing. Oh ya you do jerkweed. I am saying the women's game needs more interest or they are just sucking the NBA for whatever they can to hang on. Get some players that fans can get behind and root for as the face of the team. Does Megan have to prove her worth? Yes she does but not all 12 spots are going to get playing time. Guess that's why they pay so great because of the great following. You should post more just so we can truly gauge the depth of your ignorance on this topic.

she is not. The league is a dead horse. How the hell was she going to generate interest for that team? Or any team in the WNBA?
I do, yes. You should go to a game. It’s a good product. You wouldn’t even have to tell anybody. You know, protect that fragile identity of yours. You work for the WNBA!?
Bahahahahahahahahaha!

So why were you advocating that they should have kept her just a few posts back? Rhetorical...I know the answer.she is not. The league is a dead horse.
Why does war exist?Nah, if i wanted to see that level of skill I would go to the local high school gym.
Does it bother the women in the league the fact that the only reason the league exists is because of men?
That must sting a little bit.
