mejia not at IL?

Wow crazy. I'm sure he will have a lot of suitors but most scholarships are already tied up.

$ was the reason he didn't come to Iowa. Probably still won't be what he needs. I like him better then Teske, but I still think both guys won't be 33 til there junior years in college if at all.

He might have his options, but I'm not sure that means he'll qualify for "some," schools.

I've never heard of an application error causing the denial of a D-1 scholarship athlete. Did he omit something? I thought a Big10 athletic dpt. would pretty much have the ability to hold a kid's hand through the application process if necessary.

I truly hope he wears an Iowa singlet; he wanted to be a Hawk and he's at a lower weight for depth, is he Lee level? No...teske? Honestly don't know...but I feel he'd thrive in that room...

Teske is not sure get more like a long shot. If mejia interested why not. Teske might be good at 133 in 3 years

4 time CA Champion right? Those don't just grow on trees if I recall correctly. I realize it's at a lighter weight but still an amazing accomplishment.
Take $ out of the equation, what's the downfall some of you guys are getting at?
Size alone? Do you feel he's just not purely athletic enough to contend for a title?

Honest question, not trying to troll...just find it hard to believe throwing a 4xer in with our lightweights in the HWC and the best lightweight coaches in the business wouldn't have all of us wanting the kid to jump on board....unless it's simply b/c you don't feel he's ever going to be a true 133 lber.

Didn't Ross say on a later tweet he was D1 eligible? Or are you saying the separate Iowa standards?

Not sure of the intricacies but he's no more able to get into Iowa than Illinois. The application thing is a horribly flimsy excuse. Do you really think if they are willing and able to get him in that some sort of technicality would stop them?

True, but maybe this is his way of getting out of his LOI also. Saw a loophole and jumped? You're right if they wanted to be together they would....but the whole, "separation" could be coming from Mejia side...

However, not qualifying entirely is more plausible, but Ross tweeted he "heard" he was fully D1 eligible...

If I did that right...

Teske is hardly a long shot.

The application thing is little more than a smokescreen. He didn't qualify and wouldn't at Iowa, either.

I mean, it's super easy to get into Iowa academically so I'd have a hard time believing that would be the case?

He definitely wasnt the same wrestler last weekend that i expected after watching a few of his matches on flo. He had our group and many of the world team trials crowd on their feet a couple times with his attacking.
Count me in.

Think you are on the wrong thread? Justin did not wrestle in the trials. Maybe you are thinking Lugo.

I'm not disagreeing that Ross heard as such. I have heard differently and I heard it even back when he was an Iowa commit.

No, I gotcha...just conflicting reports and it's gonna be real interesting...my guess; he ends up at Fresno State
