Mel Kiper is an Idiot

I'm not really sure when they transitioned McShay and Kiper into college football analysts but it shows how ESPN just cultivates talking heads and puts them on TV nonstop.

When someone is more know for his hair or the comedian who does the impersonation of him, it tells you plenty.

5. Houston Cougars

I'm splitting hairs at this point, but I'll give the Cougars a coin-toss edge over the Hawkeyes. If you think it comes down to Nov. 14 against Memphis, don't forget about Navy (which just beat Memphis) sitting at the end of the schedule. The Cougars are a great story, but they could finish with two losses, easy.

6. Iowa Hawkeyes

The schedule is set up for Iowa to run the table before the Big Ten title game. What will help the Hawkeyes is if Wisconsin and Northwestern continue to win, because they have road wins over both those teams.

Guys, I figured out what it is. Houston has an SEC win, and we do not. Forget the rest of their schedule and the fact that they've beaten just three winning teams (all at 5-4 right now). That win over Vandy shows they are clearly a superior team.

Is that the same Vandy that has a commanding stranglehold on 5th place (out of 7) in the SEC East.....which has a combined W/L record of 1-10 vs. the SEC West....???

Of course, they DO have a half-game lead over the train-wreck that is Mizzou...

This is good for Iowa. Anymore Mel is wrong most of the time. The only reason he still has a job is because he is a familiar face with a familiar name...and his hair. Mel like most so called experts couldnt name three guys on either Houston or Iowa. Nor could he name three teams they have played without looking at a piece of paper before he talks.

Mel Kiper has more oil in his hair, than I have oil in my car.
He has made a living telling the NFL who to draft from our
college teams. The problem is this: Mel cannot tell an
offensive lineman from an offensive librarian. This motor
mouth gives Howard Cosell a bad name.

Mel is and has always been very "Pro" Iowa! The fact that he has us 6th is actually pretty good because we're actually closer to #10 if they win out. I think #6 is a little unrealistic but it's something to shoot for, providing we win out and we have two games that are going to be very tough wins. IMO.

I don't know if I agree with what you said but I like the way you said it.

He has us sixth out of the unbeaten teams. Last.

just because we are undefeated, certainly doesn't mean we're a top 4 team. I don't think we can play with several teams, but that doesn't mean we're not a good team. Coming from nowhere and being in the top 10 is pretty impressive, seriously we are way ahead of where anybody thought we'd be!

It sucks to be viewed negatively by the media. What's worse is to not be viewed at all because you're irrelevant.

Enjoy the ride because whether talking heads doubt you or not, the Hawkeyes are relevant. And what's most important, the playoff committee thinks Iowa is relevant.

Good-luck the rest of the season (although I hope OSU wins in the Conference Championship Game if both teams get there). That's not a disrespectful comment towards the Hawkeyes, just my bias as a Buckeye fan.

???

Nobody here is saying that Iowa is a top four team. We are saying that it's stupid to claim that we are the worst of the six remaining unbeaten teams.
