Having all those celebrities there under the guise as a benefit for L. Carr's grandchild which just happened to be on signing day has raised the bar for all other schools. I wonder how so many of the recruits got there as they took so few locally? I believe they got six from NJ which used to be one of our major pipelines. I bet the Rutgers folks are not too happy about it.

Yeah, they really have. Harbaugh is finding new ways to do things within the rules and it is really genius on his part. If he stays they will compete for a national championship but i just have this feeling that another NFL team will come calling and he will be gone. I think he sees this as an opportunity to lift Michigan football up and at the same time wait for the right NFL job.

I don't know why you would leave coaching at a major college like Michigan to go back to the NFL. I know you make more money but you already make more than enough where you are. You also are the king around there. You lose most of that control in the NFL, one of the reason they let him go in SF.

He hired an ast coach(originally in a support role) that had been the HC at Paramus high in NJ(Peppers and Gary came from there and have signed with UM). He just hired another asist coach( support staff) from a high school in Bama that they recieved two verbals from this year..

It isn't about money. It is about coaching at the highest level of the sport. Harbaugh is an ultra competitive guy and he has been to the Super Bowl once, I have a hard time believing his ultimate goal is to get back there. Just like Pete Carroll. He wanted to get back to the NFL and found the right job. There is going to be somebody who will give Harbaugh more control. He is not like these other college coaches who have tried and failed. He is a really good NFL coach.

Because he is completely driven to win the "top prize"....His ultimate goal is to hold the Lombardi trophy. ...He is always looking forward, and always has his focus on obtaining the top goal, at every level he can coach at...He will not quit until that goal is achieved..He doesn't know how to do it any other way..Just the way he is "built"..

I don't even think Harbaugh has a box from which to look out!!

Yep, I agree with those who believe Harbaugh will want another crack at the NFL at some point. The next level is a powerful lure and there's no doubt most coaches will make that leap if given the opportunity, whether they're coaching at their alma mater or not (as we learned with Fred Hoiberg).

Harbaugh looks like Norman Bates ("Psycho") and acts more like him with each passing day. Wouldn't let the creep within 1000 yards of anybody I value.

Genius is not the word I would use.

Look at his track record -- he doesn't stay in one place very long. In some cases he wears out his welcome, in others it is in his nature to look for a new challenge if he feels he has done all he can do.

In my opinion, Carroll left USC because he knew the sanction train was pulling into the station.

That and coaching college is a lot more work.

Harbaugh does not do it the right way and he showed in San Francisco that he is an agent of chaos and sacrifices discipline. I am not sold on him as some great coach. He's a petulant child and give it time, he'll spite his true colors at Michigan.
We're gonna kick their asses in Iowa city this fall. I feel very confident about that.

IDK...sleeping with a teenage boy to secure his commitment is unprofessional, and quite frankly, weird.

how long before the NCAA looks into how those kids managed to be in Michigan on signing day. but I suppose that Jimmy boy will just say they were on their official visit..

IA fans need to remember, THE Michigan fans were saying the same thing about RR and he's gone, then Hoke a true Michigan man was hired and HE GONE. the question is how long before Jimmy boy becomes the HE GONE coach.

PS Michigan can recruit on its name as it is one of those Blue Blood schools

I have a child that was recruited by Iowa, Michigan, Stanford, Wisconsin, Ohio State and Princeton. We did not go to Ohio State, as, well it is Ohio State. However, Michigan's facilities are a big step above ours. Dorms especially, Michigan's Dorms are much nicer. I know we are making advances here, but we are behind the times.

They are gone for 1 reason....they didn't win enough.

so who says that Jimmy boy will do any better? the other coaches that were fired were getting top 10 recruiting classes as well.

Curly of the old 3 Stooges could recruit to Michigan,

Rich Rod forced his stupid 3-3-5 defense onto 2 coordinators that hadn't ever ran that style before..He didn't even know the first coordinator he hired(Scot Schafer). He then hired Greg Robinson for that position...nuff said, right there..Hoke brought a lot of his assistants with him(lackeys, at best)...they weren't prepared to coach in the B10, let alone coach at a big time program like Michigan...Jim Harbaugh has a proven pedigree at small schools, large schools, and the NFL..I'm not predicting multiple NC's for him at Michigan ...Hell, I doubt he is even there in 4 years, but to compare him and his coaching abilities to Hoke and RR is dumb.

true but really what kind of success did he really have?

Named the greatest coach in University of San Diego history-29-6.

Took over a Stanford program that was 5-16 in the previous 2 seasons including going 1-11 in the year prior to his arrival..Built them up to the #2 team in the nation.

Took over a 49er team that was 18-22 under the previous regime...Built them into a Super Bowl team...

Doesn't seem that impressive to me. Kidding, of course.

Now he has turned a 5-7 team into 10-3 and has the 4 highest ranked class in the country according to rivals site.

It is certainly looking like MI is back. Anyone who thinks that game is a lock had better think again.

Don't know when your son was recruited but I doubt very much that Michigan's football facilities are nicer than ours after the upgrades. The big ten network crew raved that we had the best in the conference last spring. Dorms might be a different issue but if you're picking a school based on the dorms, you're probably not looking at the right things.

It was my daughter, and we never saw the football facility. However, for Dorms and quality of the Athletic Academic Center, Michigan was top notch.

Those were the early enrollees.

He has proven he is a great coach whether you are sold on it or not. And I wouldn't be too confident about beating them. Their defense is going to be one of the best in the country.

I think Harbaugh is a terrific college coach and recruiter but some of his antics on the recruiting trail seem to give indication why he struggled with player personalities in the NFL. He more of a one of the guys leaders rather than a professional teacher that maintains a hierarchical structure.

Professional athletes seem to do better with the more serious nature of Bill Belichek and Phil Jackson.

Yeah, he is taking recruiting right into the sewer.

Guess you don't like winning then....hate all you want but the Buckeyes have it all including a great school.

Hairball is getting all kinds of publicity but last I checked OSU - in their quiet methodical fashion - had the highest rated 2016 class. Although they may not have the scholarship numbers in 2017 - that class could be their best ever quality wise rivaling their famed 1967 class. Right now, their 2017 - 247 composite rating is close to 93.00 ad that's without having any points assigned to their kicker which could eventually push them to around the 95 to 96 range which iis absolutely beyond SIC. Yep, Harbaugh/Michigan is really tearing it up in recruiting.

I hope he drives Urban nuts. I would love to see OSU fall and have Urban pull the "I need to spend more time with the family card" again.

If that happens, at least Urban can spend time spooning his wife instead of recruits.

What was Harbaugh's tweet to the SEC that ESPN Radio hyped up yesterday?
I think is was something to do with whining, as the SEC is not happy that Saint Harbaugh is trying to have spring practice in Florida. And if he is going to do that, I think there will be more than just "whining" at other schools.
