Micic Transferring

Any guesses where he ends up? He is a stud and someone is getting a good one. My guess, Arizona State.

I think he's on the Junior Worlds team going to Brazil next month and would be eligible. But don't quote me on that. I'm often confused on these redshirt and transfer rules.

Would transferring to another Big Ten school mean he would lose a year of eligibility or does he mean he would have to sit out a year? If the latter, and an Olympic redshirt is available, then PSU is a perfect fit. Megaludis has 1 more year and then they have an empty cupboard.

Both.

Micic needs to medal this summer to have an Olympic Redshirt. He doesn't fit any other crietria

Takes a helluva salesman to get a kid to go from NU to ASU.
No fuggn way I'd allow any of my kids to do that.
Let's revisit this in 10 years.

I think most parents would frown on that move from an academic standpoint, however it's sometimes difficult to sway a 20 year-old when they set their mind to something.

I agree, let's see where Zeke has this team in 10 years. All it takes is a couple of these kids not to pan out for it to really hurt the momentum they have. Are they not going to recruit anyone else over the next 4 years?

Is Zeke getting "extra" recruiting time since he's still kind of involved with USA wrestling?

I know from 10,000 feet Zeke gets a lot of coaching love, but what do the people on the inside feel about his coaching chops? I honestly have no opinion on this, I just never really heard too much love for him as a coach while he was at the OTC and now he is the best thing since slice bread. Coaching world teams and coaching college wrestling are A LOT different. He does seem to be able to recruit, but having a fistfull of scholarships and the ASU campus could make a lot of people great recruiters.

I don't care where Zeke has the program in 10 years. My comment was in reference to Micic not the program. There is life after wrestling.

Zeke was lauded for his work with USA wrestling. He was also bringing the Penn program along prior to his departure for USA wrestling.

Well now northwesterns newly appointed assistant coach is firing shots at micic. Connor beebe social media says........why would you leave an NU education and the best conference in wrestling?.......i dont know so stop asking me

Conner I will give you 3 reasons

#1 The Babes. Ever been to the ASU campus?
#2 ASU will be on a championship run in 2 years while Northwestern will be the 5th best in the big ten again
#3 Weather

MICIC has the rest of his life to study and go to grad school. .Wrestling will last only a few more years for him.

Oh, I thought we generally talk about wrestling on here instead of a kids life after wrestling.

I misunderstood..

I think talking about a kids life is fair game, if he is a wrestler and someone cares to give his opinion about what he thinks of a decision he made.
Or was that a joking tone, chopper, and I just missed it?

Personally, I am in the camp that getting a degree from ASU and chasing an olympic dream will all be positives in his first job interview. NU would also be a good degree to have, but in the long run I think Micic would regret not chasing his dream more than the thousands of dollars extra that he would have made in his first job.

This is what's known as a first-world problem. Micic has options, and he's making a decision. Good for him.

Might be worth it to get up there and see a match or two. Can hardly blame the kid for going to Tempe Normal...Nobody else goes there for the academics either (except they do have a decent business school). Like I have said before, all you have to do is drag a case of Natty Light behind your car and one is bound to get some ladies to follow you home. It's officially called the ASU Trolling technique. For daytime results, Starbucks works well too.

I haven't tasted Natural Light since the 1st half of my life. ASU chicks are cheap dates, huh?

Any chance he ends up a Hawk? Someone said above there is a chance he could get an Olympic shirt, and if so that wouldn't be too bad of a deal.

I don't think we need his services. I like our chances with Suriano and Lee. Not to mention we have two studs already committed who could end up light weights.

Hmmm.

I agree that Northwestern isn't the best room in the country for a 19-year-old 57kg Jr World Team member with Olympic aspirations.

But Michigan certainly isn't. I'm not even sure it's any better than Northwestern. Is Precin still training at NW? He's not top 8 but he's a tough veteran and I'm guessing he beats Micic. Who's Micic going to roll around with at Michigan? Kellen Russell? Yeah, maybe once a week. Conner Youtsey? (Not knocking Youtsey--he's a tough out.)

Iowa is the only room in the country with 2 of the top 57kg contenders, including the odds-on favorite for 2016. Plus Gilman and Clark. But that's why he's not going to Iowa--he's likely to sit on the bench behind Gilman for a year , and Tomasello is why he's not going to tOSU.
