Midlands..

While watching yesterday's Oklahoma/Lehigh dual, I could have sworn that Jack Spates said that Brewer and a couple other wrestlers would not be going to Midlands. He was about to expand further on the topic, but then something happened on the mat and he never came back to that particular topic to finish his thoughts.
Don't you hate when that happens

bummer..may not be the worst thing in the world.

If Clark and Nashon are both undefeated who gets the one seed? Clark is the highest returning placer out of the two at a higher weight class to boot.

This could work out well. I think Clark can beat Nashon but I don't have much hope against Brewer.

What I can't understand is why some of you don't think Clark can beat Brewer. Did you not watch the full match last year? Clark has watched that match 100 times and won't hand Brewer those points the next time. I have all the confidence in the world that Clark can beat anyone in his path.

If Brewer doesn't show at Midlands that means Clark slips down the rankings every time Brewer gets beat. Genius ploy on Brewer's part; however, I predict Cory gets the #13 seed at nationals and wins it all!

Clark is already ranked ahead (#2) of Brewer in Intermat. Flo, WIN...

It's not I don't think he can beat him..It's just a horrible matchup for Clark. Cory would have to really slow his style down to win this match. He takes more shots then anyone on the team. The majority out of the tie. You can not do that vs. Brewer(unless you are consistently getting to his legs).

Yes, I watched the entire match last year. I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock on the way a guy wrestles the third period in the national finals with a huge lead.

Inconceivable! Don't let facts get in the way of our message board fun.

Some of you aren't following the discussion closely enough. This was all in fun, i.e. sarcasm from previous bantering.
Haha, oops. Should have known better

While I agree with your comments on the 3rd period...Clark has shown the ability to figure guys out the second and third time around. He will not give up the easy stuff he gave up next time they wrestle. I think Clark is the best on the team right now at making those kinds of adjustments in subsequent meetings with opponents. I like his chances in a rematch. Brewer wrestled lights out at last year's nationals...he has yet to duplicate that level of dominance this year. He is beatable and I think Clark will hand him a loss in their next go.

Clark can absolutely beat Brewer. Brewer had an exceptional tournament and at no other point in his career has he been that dominant or maintained a consistent level of dominance. He had a good tournament at the right time. Maybe he has turned a corner, but his results this year don't really indicate that he has

I agree with Wyld hawk. Corey did great last year in rematches against Gulibon and JDJ. Brewer hasn't looked so hot so far. Corey gonna get em

He's a 3x AA he did have an awesome tournament but the way you make it sound it's as if it was a fluke did you see his match against Morrison in the second round 2 years ago he's legit I don't think a loss to Nashon Garrett or Kaid Brock (who MIGHT just be one of the top guys in March) should say other wise

He finished 8th and 7th which would not suggest almost bonusing your way to a national title the next year. Regardless of who it was to, he has already taken 2 losses this year. He's very good, but you'd be foolish to think that Clark doesn't stand a respectable chance to beat him, which was the entire point of my post

He took 7th twice look at those brackets you'll see his results both times were consistent aside from the major upset he pulled his sophomore year the weight also cleared a bit after his sophomore year I never said Clark didn't stand a chance i was only disagreeing with the way your post came off to me

(125) Gilman: 1st - holds off Dylan Peters in a low scoring finals match, HR forum criticizes lack of offense. The Mat criticizes his post match celebration.
(133) Clark: 2nd - Brewer returns to form and takes down Clark in the finals.
(141) Ryan: DNP; Grothus DNP - HR forum questions if he can still move up to 157
(149) Sorensen: 2nd - Tsirtsis returns to form winning in dull fashion in SV on RT; Kemerer - DNP, Brands finds him a freshman tournament to send him to where he wins easily.
(157) Cooper: DNP - defeats one top 20 wrestler inspiring HR forum confidence, promptly loses to 2 opponents outside of the top 50.
(165) Rhoads: DNP - wrestles valiantly in two 1 point losses to ranked opponents. Ironside praises effort.
(174) Meyer: 1st - HR forum still wonders why he's not winning by larger margins
(184) Brooks: 2nd - defeats Hayden Zilmer again but remains ranked below him in Flo rankings. Loses a close match to Dechow in the finals.
(197) Burak: 2nd - displays minimal offense on his route to the finals where he loses to Wellington by illegal slam.
(HWT) Stoll: 4th - Rolls through the early rounds but loses to Dhesi by TF. Takes 4th after losing to Gage Hutchison by fall in the 3rd place match. Most HR forum posters praise his effort. One poster blames his losses on too many cookies.

Right now I'm feeling pretty good about these predictions.

Turk, Carton, Wilcke and Halloway are all done? Was hoping Carton would beat Gross. He's 2-0 against Iowa wrestlers this year. Cash looked spent (ha) at the end of is match. Gave up actually. Looked at the clock and gave up an easy TD.

Gross is 2-1 vs Iowa wrestlers this year, Turk beat him 10-8 at (i forget which) an open.

I think most of us were hoping for better results for all of them, even discounting the recent message board hype. Our title hopes over the next few years depend on strong multi-year performances from at least two of them, if not three.

Turk beat him at the Harold Nichols. Turk was 10-2 up to Midlands, with losses to Wesley from Iowa State and Koethe from UNI. He's got some work to do yet.
