Military Draft

If they're going to be put in combat units on the front lines with men, I suppose they should also be included in the draft.

Personally, I'm against both. Sexual tension has no place in combat units when absolute focus is required just to stay alive.

Units of all heterosexual women wouldn't work either, have you even seen a huge group of women interact in a workplace? Very cliquey and in the end they all hate each other.

If we have one again in the future, should women be included?

No. If a woman wants to volunteer to go to war, then have at it. It's not right to force them.

You could make the same argument for men as well, and you'd have a valid point. I just feel differently about it for men. If you want to argue that it's not fair to force men to go to war too, then we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Yes, I have a son and daughter. My greatest fear in life is my son going to war, seeing, doing and experiencing the same things I did. But I would be able to handle it. It would flat out break me if my daughter had to.

They never will be.

You think women are gonna fight for equal responsibility?

Maybe only the ones that joined the military anyways, but that itself is a small number. The rest don't want that responsibility and will oppose it.

And men will oppose it because women told them they don't want to be drafted.

I'll be very surprised if women are ever included in the selective service in this country.

Just remember we've had women in the military for decades and it takes several support people in the military for every 1 combat soldier. All those support roles have been open to women for ages. So in a war a large number of women would certainly have use even if we never used them in combat roles. Yet a bill requiring them to sign up for selective service has never been taken seriously.

You think because a couple women might sign on for combat roles that the rest of the women are gonna want to go fight and die with the men. Nope!

Of course they should be included. It works out just fine for Israel, no reason it shouldn't anywhere else.

Very unlikely tht ever happens again. They learned it's not feasible to conscript to get wars to pay-off really long term. That's what ended Vietnam.
