Minnesota is basically Pitt

After the test of the Indiana O i think Minnesota is going to be another big hurdle to get over. Pitt gave us a very good battle and was very much a hard fought win for Iowa. One thing I noticed is both Pitt and the Gophers are ranked on both O and D right at the same spot. They are almost identical. Hopefully the QB doesnt give us fits again. That said if not for a very hard schedule Minnesota could be sitting just outside the top 25 this year instead they will be lucky to go bowling.

Statistically they might be similar. But Minnesota's offense is nothing like Pitts. Pitt has the best receiver in college football in my opinion and a versatile attack. Minnesota's offense is no where near as dynamic.
Add to that the atmosphere that will be in Iowa city on that day with the wrestling dual, the fact it's a night game, and the new uniforms, it's a perfect storm for Iowa to blast Minnesota. Regardless of what happens at Indiana Saturday, I think Iowa will handle Minnesota.

Minny put up, what, 24 points against one of the top scoring defenses in the nation Sat night. They were very inspired to play hard for Kill...that may be a 1-game rallying cry, but if they can keep the intensity they showed the other night, it will be a verrrrrry tough assignment for the Hawks

They did play hard for Kill....at home......and lost. I think it is really hard to keep that up after you lost an emotional game in front of the home crowd. If they get crushed this week they may transition into free fall mode.

I don't think Minnesota will have any problems geting motivated for the Iowa game and a chance to win back Floyd especially if it means they need the victory to help an uphill battle to become bowl eligible.

And to the poster above why is it such a crime to talk about future opponents for an Iowa team looking to go undefeated? What are we suppose to have 20 topics on here that talk about everything that only happens this week? Don't think anyone on her said "Oh how will we ever win" You must be a real joy to be around if you get annoyed by simple little things.

Well they have a warm up game with ohio st sat night before our battle next week. Tough stretch for the ole rodents.

I don't see a Tyler Boyd on Minnesota's roster.

Minnesota is in a very tough stretch. They were already beat up going into Michigan, and will get pounded agains by OSU.

No more worried about this game than any of the other 3 remaining.

Minnesota doesn't have a Tyler Boyd.

I'd be a bit more scared of this game if they weren't coming off that close loss vs. Michigan and they're sure to get pretty beat up by OSU. Not to say they'll mail it in but they could be pretty fragile going into a very very difficult atmosphere, especially when all our guys are going to be motivated by the beat down they put on us last year.

Minny played out of their mind against Michigan running on emotion and some luck; and still couldn't win. They will get trounced this weekend at OSU and hopefully are a beaten dog when they hit Kinnick the following week.

Minnesota is like Pitt in the same way Indiana is like Baylor. You can definitely draw some similarities between them, but in both cases, one is probably significantly better than the other.

The problem I have is the constant build up of our opponents and how doomed we are. And it's not even our opponent for the week. NU week, people were worried about Maryland and Indiana. MD week, people are still going on about IU. IU week, and here we are finding ways to worry about Minnesota.

I don't see it as rational discussion of our chances at winning out. I see it as trolling. It's a pattern. You're setting things up so you can comfort yourself after a loss by coming on here and spewing about how right you were in predicting it.

I think you worry too much. How much fight will Minny have left in them after losing a heartbreaker to Michigan and then night road game @ #1 O$U. Probably not much.

I have a theory about Iowa-Minny. If Iowa has at least a decent team they will beat Minny in Kinnick. Iowa is more than decent this year.

Ask Lawrence Maroney and Glenn Mason if I'm wrong.

Let us not forget that there's some revenge needed in this game. Losing 51-14 last year was humiliating, and most of the players on the field will remember. Plus they have our pig, I hate to think what they're doing to it. We should stock up on some gopher remover now.

I think in the next two games against Indiana and Minnesota, Iowa puts up 90+ points (combined, not two weeks in a row ).

Nope not even close but keet assuming things about people and keep trolling discussion topics that don't please you.
