Minnesota run game destroyed Iowa last year

Yep, and our players have greatly improved. That play Josie made on Saturday is incredibly encouraging for this Sat's game.

If they come out and try the same gameplan again, its gonna me a long day for Minnesota. Iowa's LBs are very good, not only ,so are Iowa's safetys. I would assume they will line up and just try and come straight ahead at Iowa with Leidner and whoever is playing RB

How's A.J. to Iowa lookin Epy?

Is it similar to what Indiana was running this past week? Just curious.

Minnesota's running game is pretty weak this year. Their offensive line hasn't opened up the holes most of the year and their primary backs are young. Their passing game has improved and is better than their running game at this point but they have few deep threats and they don't get a lot of big plays.

Minnesota probably isn't capable of scoring 27 on Iowa so their best hope for a win would be to hold Iowa to 20 or below or in the very low twenties. Their defense might be capable of doing that but Iowa's defense is definitely capable of holding their offense below that.

I'm a Gopher fan and you guys are right on this. Our OL has been inconsistent to put it nicely. There won't be a repeat of last year. Our young backs have shown flashes, but they are hit a lot in the backfield.

TE Maxx Williams 5-46-3TD. Gone also.

Mark Weisman had 14 carries for 21 total yards last year - jeesh.

Iowa is set to turn the tables this year.

The idea that Iowa was running stretch plays with a fullback still blows my mind.

I completely agree. Weisman had no business staying at RB after 2012 and I believe that Ferentz' decision to keep him there will go down as one of his biggest mistakes during his career at Iowa.

I definitely think Minnesota will run the jet motion and try to get the outside edge. They still have KJ Maybe who had like 66 yards on 10 carries doing that. Leidner also had like 77 yards on 11 carries.

Anyone remember when Pirsig committed to Iowa , then backed out and went with Kill? He's the starting RT and has been getting mauled this year in several Gopher games I have seen. Now getting owned by Bosa is not unexpected, but he's getting beat by almost every DE they've played.

Enjoy your days in Gopherville, young man. If he's playing because Minny has no one better... then the coaching staff has done a huge disservice to him.

Too bad, young man... you coulda been a Hawkeye!

Why would you want him if he's getting beat by "almost every DE they've played?" Sounds like Iowa dodged a poor recruiting choice.

Why do people constantly forget that everybody else was hurt or could not hang on to the ball?

No. Minnesota attacked the edges with jet sweeps taking advantage of Iowa's inexperienced LBs
I read where Leidner had 77 yds rushing last year vs Iowa where his season avg was like 20 ypg. As you said, alot of stuff to confuse the young LB's last year, in a game in which Minny ran for 291 yards.
