Missouri teacher on leave after school district discovers her OnlyFans porn page

I think we are getting to the point where it is going to be hard to find people that do not have something out there.

I do think that it is wrong to be fired for legal activity - just seems in line with old school morality laws we all cringe at the mere existence of.

Is it that hard to find someone who has obeyed the law and hasn't done porn?

Thanks for caring.
Frankly, i admire her matter of fact attitude here and her all-too-rare recognition of the realities of behavioral economics.

She took a job with virtually no real risk to it, for a somewhat lower pay. She then took another "job", for some more pay, which presented one of the very few risks that actually might apply to her first job. The risk, while remote, came to fruition. And so she's being a big girl about losing the first job.

I truly get the sentiment but I also think with smartphones and “the internet is forever”, the pool of applicants who have never sent a nude pic to a significant other, never had a risqué photo taken of them in college, etc is going to continue to shrink. And yes choices have consequences, I get all that.

It’s up to administration to determine what is appropriate for their school obviously but I do think employers of all kinds are going to have to be a bit more realistic when they dig into someone’s personal life. Just my 69 cents.

True but generally we want to get good people to become teachers so that we can give the next generations the best opportunities.

You don't get the best people for that level of pay.
The best people are making $500k+/year. Should we raise teacher pay to attract the best people?

Let’s be real. She can do this for 3-5 years. I am not sure how this affects licensure, however if she can keep the license I could see a desperate school contract her and in another 5 years no one will care or remember. Schools are taking risks hiring teachers that have had complaints with kids before. This no where rises to that level.

500 seems extreme, but more than $42K, no?
Let the market dictate compensation for a profession. She went to school to be an English teacher and accepted a job paying $42k. If she wants to make more than that, then either find a new profession or other sources of income. She rolled the dice with this other source of income. She will live with the consequences, which will probably be one that makes her more money.

Agreed. I have a former teacher friend, who is on OF, and basically said the same thing you did. I texted her that I was glad this didn’t happen to you when you were teaching.

You have to be OK with your parents, grandparents, basically all your family and friends knowing what youre doing. You also have to be OK with that being on the internet forever your your future kids and their friends more than likely finding out.
For $8-10k a month I imagine it makes it pretty easy to be ok with all that other stuff. Considering the scarcity of teachers these days she will probably be able to get hired someplace else.

While I can not blame a school district for letting a teacher go for this sort of thing. I also have to ask, why is a teacher only making $42,000 a year?
Pretty typical for a teacher with only a few years of experience, especially in red states where there has been a concerted effort to cut salaries over the last 20 years. In this case, she probably keeps the day job for the health insurance and other benefits more than the pay check.

LOL..same people who are ok with porn books in the library are ok with this. Atleast they're consistent pervs.

Because it affects her ability to be respected as a teacher both by parents and the students.

There are some things that you can do on your personal time that affect your job. I can't really trash my company by name all over facebook and have my boss be all cool with that if he finds out.

You can do that if you're in a union.

I've never been on OnlyFans but I know on other similar pay to view services that the "performers" sometimes wear masks or shoot their videos so that their faces aren't seen. As long as you don't have any easily recognizable tattoos or body markings that seems like the way to go if you actually value your day job.
Guys don’t take as much unfortunately, otherwise, I’d be all in.

I’m not for porn books, but she didn’t break any laws and isn’t exposing kids to anything.

Honestly, beyond pay, I think you’ve touched on what we need to attract the best people. Fix. Behavior.
Parents need to parent. Parents need to care. Parents need to reinforce and teach respect. It’s lacking severely in school aged children.

A high school English teacher has been placed on leave after the St. Clair School District discovered she performs on the pornography website OnlyFans.
The 28-year-old teacher at St. Clair High School, Brianna Coppage, said in an interview with the Post-Dispatch that she was put on leave on Wednesday after being interviewed by two administrators. Her access to school email and other software has been revoked while the district investigates, she said.
“It was kind of always like this cloud hanging over my head, like I never knew when I would be discovered,” Coppage said. “Then, about two weeks ago, my husband and I were told that people were finding out about it. So I knew this day was coming.”

St. Clair is in Franklin County, about 55 miles southwest of St. Louis.
The school superintendent, Kyle Kruse, said in a statement that the district was “recently notified that an employee may have posted inappropriate media on one or more internet sites.”

“The district has engaged legal counsel to conduct a comprehensive investigation into this matter,” Kruse wrote. “Actions taken as a result of the investigation will be in accordance with board policy and with guidance from legal counsel.”

Coppage said she joined the direct-to-subscribers website OnlyFans over the summer to supplement her teaching salary.

She taught English to freshmen and sophomores and made about $42,000 last year, according to the Post-Dispatch public pay database. She said she’s earned an additional $8,000 to $10,000 per month performing on OnlyFans.
Coppage said she chose the site because its content is available only to subscribers and she thought it would help protect her identity.

She doesn’t know who notified the school district of her account, but she suspects it was after she and her husband appeared in a recent video alongside two other OnlyFans performers in St. Louis who have a substantial following.

“(The district says) they haven’t made a decision yet, but I’m just kind of putting the pieces together that I am not coming back,” Coppage said. “I’m very aware that I am probably never going to teach again, but that was kind of the risk I knew I was taking. I am sad about that. I do miss my students.”

When you call yourself the "Show-Me State" I hafta say, you're kinda asking for it here....

(If I'm her lawyer, I'm using that in the wrongful termination lawsuit)

If you spent the first 10 minutes of a day in my wife’s kindergarten classroom you’d see precisely what you’re saying here. She has 5 year olds f bombing her daily. 2 kids out of control and the rest frightened. It’s a joke.

That's what my son and his wife will make this year. He's HS Bio/Chem, she's elem SPED.

I just think it’d be hard to have respect and a functional classroom in this case.

For the record my kid went to a day care where one of the teachers was also a stripper for a bit. But he was 3 and so it wasn’t going to be an issue.

These are high school kids and if you’re honest with yourself you know how that’s gonna go.
