Money Martin has a target on her back

I wouldn’t go so far as to say Reese is a terrible person, but she is extremely immature. She’s also horribly insecure about the amount of attention she gets compared to Clark.

Her suspension during her senior season at LSU reportedly stemmed from fighting with teammates in front of visiting recruits.

Everywhere she has played, from Maryland to LSU to Chicago, there have been serious locker room problems. At some point you have to consider that maybe she’s the common denominator.

Based on past results, I presume 9 of her 12 defensive rebounds were on her own missed layups?

She'd have put us over the top. Interior defense and ferocious rebounding is useful on a team that plays a lot of 3 and 4 guard sets.
Again if she'd played for the Hawks so much of the pearl clutching would never have occurred in the Iowa fan base.
So her behavior is all made up by the Iowa fan base? How ignorant are you?

So how do you know that you are not seeing the reaction on an Iowa sports forum and I presume local social media?
I am seeing it both places, as I do follow the Indiana Fever now.

Just Google "WNBA ANGEL REESE CONTROVERSIES" and you can read plenty of takes from non-Iowa fans.

Just one of many examples, here is a rap artist from New York weiging in:

Yeah, that was dumb. I own it so won't edit.

At any rate, she gets a LOT of rebounds off her own misses!
She does get a lot of rebounds off her own missed layups. But in her defense, even if you eliminate all of them she is still one of the top rebounders in the league.

That’s her calling card. She can’t run, she can’t dribble, and she can’t shoot. But she can rebound like a son of a bitch.

Like Reggie Evans.

Who never acted like he should be on the same plane of popularity as Kobe Bryant. :)

In other WNBA news, Nashville has submitted a bid for an expansion franchise that would be called the Tennessee Summitt, in honor of legendary Lady Vols coach Pat Summitt.

The group is led by former Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and includes Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Peyton Manning, and Candace Parker. If approved, the team will begin play in 2028.

I wonder if all this expansion is a good idea. We have Golden State starting this year and Toronto starting next year. For all the publicity the league has garnered in the past year, it still loses money. And I think they overestimate how much value they get from players not named Caitlin Clark.

These are my thoughts which I have previously posted. There has only been one person the masses have really wanted to see, and that is Caitlin. On top of that, there really are not that many high impact W players with whom you can form a super team. Maybe 10? 15? You bunch a few of them up on a few teams, and you have 2 or 3 favorites to win it all, a couple who might make some noise, and then the rest of the teams are cannon fodder who have almost no chance to win it all, who most people do not want to watch.

I don't know, maybe it's irrational exuberance from the Clark years - but I think adding in stars like Paige Bueckers and Ju Ju is going to keep the momentum going pretty well. If they can create some good rivalries in the WNBA like the Reese-Clark one in college, I think it will keep the interest level relatively high.

I found it a nice change up from all-baseball, all the time this summer for my sport viewing.

Juju maybe in a couple of years. I don't think Bueckers will sell tickets next year. That is not attack on her, it is just there are not that many players who drive box office. There is Caitlin and then a huge drop off to the next big draw. Maybe A'ja? I hope there are 10 more Caitlins because that would be exciting as hell, but they just don't make many of her.
