After rewatching the Wisc game I am more encouraged for the rest of this year. There were numerous runs by both Leshon and Kaleb that were very close to breaking for long runs. Just a missed tackle, missed block and a defense not respecting the pass. Also, I did not see Wisc coming close to a big play or, except for their early drive that CDJ stuffed Braelon on 4th down, they never really came close to a TD. I do believe that Wisconsin is the best team (except for Penn St.) that Iowa will play this year. I believe Wisconsin was ready for the game to be over. Iowa's D seemed to be getting stronger as the game went on--Most physical defensive effort of the year by Hawks.

Wisconsin was pushed around by Washington st. Wash st beats Iowa by 2 TDs easy.

Michigan, OSU, Penn State are the best in Big. Is Iowa the 4th best team in B1G? That Wisconsin team was way-down in both defense and offense from previous vintage Wisconsin teams. I do agree the recent signs of a run game for Iowa are encouraging, but the passing game is discouraging.

Agree with OP - thought several plays were an inch from being long runs. It's especially encouraging considering Wisky didn't have to respect the pass at all.

Add 150 yds passing to the running game against Wisky and the Hawks will be really tough to beat.

Especially Castro he set the tone for sure he looks much bigger this year
Most impressive part about Castros game was how sure he tackled. I recall multiple times where he made the tackle short of the first down - and that’s the difference between iowas defense vs others. Sure, open field tackling. Hard to quantify with recruiting stars, but it’s an absolute difference making ability!

Iowa is adding Patterson tomorrow. The interesting thing BF did catch on to Saturday was not giving up on the run. This may sound like an obvious conclusion with Iowa’s run game. But in the past, Iowa would give up on the run and pass. I think Kirk or Brian saw Iowa’s line having their way and stayed with it—-paid off.
